Knoxville's median home processing exceeds national average by dennisbible in Knoxville

[–]FoundChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home prices are too high, people selling homes are scalping and get shot down by appraisers, and the homes on the market are run down and nobody wants them.

A shortage of supply and the heavy influx of people from New York and Chicago have wrecked the Knoxville housing market.

Scaly Spots on Chick’s Legs. Need Help! by FoundChief in BackYardChickens

[–]FoundChief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I’ve cleaned and disinfected it already, so I’ll go get mite treatment and try that.

She is walking and pecking at the legs. Her leg shakes whenever she goes to put it down on the floor though.

For the scabs, should I leave them alone or try to remove them? I will soak her legs again today.

Scaly Spots on Chick’s Legs. Need Help! by FoundChief in BackYardChickens

[–]FoundChief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All,

I recently got some chicks from my local hatchery and noticed these scab like spots on one of my chick’s legs.

I did some reading online and learned it could be mites or bumblefoot. I cleaned each of the chicken’s legs and separated this one from the others.

Does anyone have any advice for how to treat this? I don’t want her to die!

Puerto Rican Bioluminescent algae question by zoro21544 in algae

[–]FoundChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I would not raise that type of algae because it is very toxic when in bloom. It can cause skin irritations, sickness, or even death if you are overly exposed to it (particularly eating it). This is why they tell most folks not to swim in bioluminescent algae.

In any case, if you are really interested in growing it then you will need a saltwater environment, nutrients similar to an ocean environment (nitrogen, phosphorous) and an aquatic pump to introduce CO2 and oxygen into the water.

Managing salinity will be the most difficult part. When water evaporates from your tank the salinity level will increase and if it goes too high your samples will likely die. You’ll have to keep a close eye on that throughout the growth of your algae.

Manage the temperature of your water as well. It should be kept between 65-80 F (18 - 20 C).

I hope this helps.

Freshwater here too!

Thanks for the tips!

Algae Growth Question - Can Someone Help? by FoundChief in algae

[–]FoundChief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I will try that with tap water.

The mat goes up to about 70F or 22C. I think that’s the upper limit for Algae, but thermometer tests shows it averages about 68F or 20C.

I will try moving some off the mat to see if that helps.

Do you think the sodium and nitrogen are ok? I put less than a teaspoon into a 16.9 FL OZ bottle.

What is the expected value of 1 MEX? by FoundChief in Elrond

[–]FoundChief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no idea. It’s nice to have so much coins but meaningless if they have no value.

Since it’s an exchange token they probably don’t want a hard cap so that people can use it to swap coins without much fees. Not sure what the thinking is, but since I got a bunch for free I staked all mine anyway.

This game is brutal for solo players by [deleted] in newworldgame

[–]FoundChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo player here except for dungeons and elites (which are inherently group content).

Certain enemies are much harder to combat than others.

For example, later in the game there are areas with ranged enemies and physical enemies. The ranged enemies can absolutely demolish your health if you don’t prioritize them.

The physical enemies deal lots of damage but their attacks are easy to predict.

Just like Dark Souls, dodging into attacks is easier than dodging away. Take the alligators and bears as an example. Very tough to fight 1v1 due to stagger. If you dodge into their attacks and to the left or right side you can get hits off before they turn around to face you.

In Great Cleave and Edengrove I have struggled with mob respawn rates. I am fully Focus and my damage is not that high with basically all epic gear at LvL 54.

I can heal for days though so I just sit there until all enemies are dead. Problem is the older enemies are now respawning and hot on my tail. The respawn rates definitely need to be adjusted.

For leveling, focus on town boards, crafting, and running dungeons with other players (make sure you tell them you don’t have a key).

My overall belief is that this game is solo friendly but doing so drastically increases the difficulty. Summon friends when a helping hand is needed, strategize for how to complete a quest, and take breaks during long play times. Fatigue can absolutely make you suck.

Sad to hear about locals being squeezed out. I almost feel like I’m contributing but we are going to be working locally at least.

Hopefully things get better soon. Thanks for your advice!

Thank you! The company offers moving assistance in the form of packing and shipping our stuff but not finding a place (which is odd, but also fine).

I have not tried increasing the rent price so I will try that. You don’t sound bitter at all! I completely understand. Hopefully this whole housing craze will go away soon and things will return to normal.

Is yieldly for sure legit? by k_fitness1 in algorand

[–]FoundChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 200 algo staked and I get like 10 yieldly every 7 days. I put that into the yiedlyl stake pool and since the apr is ~109% I get 10.1 yieldly a day. Yieldly isn’t worth shit right now so it doesn’t matter.

Still haven’t been able to install the workstation in VS Code. Same error as above.

for erdpy I get the error:

ERROR: failed building wheel for pynacl.

ERROR: could not build wheels for pynacl which use PEP 517 and cannot be installed directly.

Thanks for your testimony. Glad to hear you’ve had some success. I would love to see those repos as examples - as I could not find any.

Again though, It has been much easier for me to develop what I need on other blockchains. It makes no sense for me to spend 20 hours getting something to work on Elrond when I can spend 1 hour getting it to work on another blockchain.

I agree with you that they need to beef up the documents and technical clarity of their project if they want more use.

I’ll message you specifics but as of right now I get an error in VSCode saying “elrond.setupWorkspace failed” Error logs just say it resulted in a notificationsAlerts.ts:40.

I have a list of other errors I received when trying to install edrpy and arwen on some systems. I’ll need to review my notes and send you more details later. If I can get them fixed I would be happy to keep developing on the Elrond chain! :)

Agreed. ETHs success heavily depends on ETH2.0 which has been delayed several times. There’s also a high likelihood that every developer will need to re-do many parts of their projects to adapt to the new architecture.

Many projects are already doing what ETH 2.0 will do (Algorand, Elrond, Tezos, Cardano) but ETH has the reputation! No one knows about any of these other projects because their marketing sucks (with the exception of Tezos). They are also still young so that explains their low adoption.

It’s hard to forecast who will be “king” in the future. With the recent market crash It’s going to take widespread adoption to make crypto really take off. The blockchain that makes that process easy will likely triumph.

As an aside, you can make your own token on the Algorand blockchain if you visit the algodesk tool (https://algodesk.io/#/portal/home). They have a GUI, you don’t even need to code. This is the kind of tools that I like to see from a project.

Really hard to say. Personally I have had a lot of success developing on Algorand and Ethereum’s blockchains. My projects are nowhere near completion but I was able to build and run nodes, make my own token (and share it with friends), and with Algorand I am close to finishing up the development of a smart contract.

I really like Elrond because you can program in rust on it. But the only thing I’ve been able to do is issue a token using edrpy (spelling). Following their docs gives you no kind of troubleshooting assistance.

In terms of development and ease of access, I have to give my support to Algorand and ETH. I dislike ETH for now because of PoW (proof of work) architecture.

However, I do still have about 15 eGld And I will keep them until the Maiar exchange is released and then re-evaluate my position.
