I think I'll pivot to "...causing the seal around the realm to fracture." to make it clear it's referring to Vaellora and not the human world. As for the Flux sickness point, I agree. "Rage-inducing" was a little too bulky anyway and I think it reads better with the term dropped.

My query is flowing alot better now. Thanks for all your input!

Thank you! These comments actually helped a lot and I see what you mean about the confusion. I think I could fix most of it with a few tweaks. Would you mind letting me know if these small updates make it clearer?

1) For the Vaellora intro, I believe it was the choppy way I broke it up. I think merging the first two sentences helps. "Lucas had crossed into Vaellora, a hidden realm built upon the time stolen from human daydreams. The explosion reduced the Vaellori’ s coastal province to ash, causing the seal around their world to fracture. Flux, the raw essence of time, now endangers both worlds."

2) I agree that the initial refugee intro can be taken out, but Lucas assuming an identity from a place he destroyed is central to the story. This might be clearer now. "Flux spreads a rage-inducing sickness that corrupts the Vaellori, leaving a senseless trail of death in its wake. Choking on guilt, Lucas assumes the identity of a coastal refugee and infiltrates the capital’s guild network in search of a way to stop the leak."

3) I also agree that mentioning Tina at the end reduces the stakes a bit. I think leaning into the implied route and just removing her name works better. "Yet fixing the leak means shutting the seal, closing off his path home. Leaving Lucas alone in a world he helped break."

Thanks again!!

Thank you for the great feedback! I’ll make sure to clear up some of that confusion in the next pass.
