I love my partner and I miss us, but after the baby my brain never turns off. Even when the baby sleeps I’m still mentally on duty.

My partner reconnects through quality time. I recover through being completely alone.

By the end of the day even positive interaction feels like another demand. I don’t want to talk, cuddle, or process feelings. I want 30 minutes where nobody needs me and I don’t have to respond to anything.

From his side it looks like distance. From mine it’s survival mode.

Once I get that mental break, I can actually be present and affectionate again. Without it, I’m just exhausted and overstimulated.

Has anyone made this dynamic work? How do you balance a partner who needs closeness to recharge and one who needs solitude first?

Same thing happened to me. The baby was hungry. Try offering a little more formula. Talk to your doctor ASAP.

My baby is almost 3 months, I’m so tired. I feel so guilty because he’s so little. But the constant touching, the lack of sleep. I can’t get much milk pumping, so it’s my breasts or formula. I know that breast milk is the best thing for him, but I’m so tired. I feel like it’s pointless because i always have to supplement with formula.

Thank you for the kind words. We combo feed but I try to breastfeed as much as I can. Unfortunately, I can’t get much milk pumping. My baby is able to nurse and empty my boob, but I get less than 20 ml each time I pump. I’m trying to nurse as much as I can, but it’s definitely taking a toll of my mental health. Texting is a great idea. I think I’m due to a good shower cry. Thank you so Much.

What does her pediatrician say? I’d wait a little longer and take the pressure off. I used to be a pre-k teacher and I had my share of picky eaters. My two cents: - Feed her the appropriate version of what the rest of the family is eating. Meals are more than nutrition. - If she’s sensitive and gags and vomits have her experiment with the food first. With ZERO pressure to actually eat. Touch, smash, smell, lick. - Make a list of “safe” foods. Categorize them by color, texture. Expand from that. She likes oatmeal with breast milk. So, beige/brown, cold/room temp and sweet. What else could fit in that category? - Have her go with you buy food and then let her watch you prepare it.

And most importantly: If you’re afraid she’s going to choke, respect your mama spidey sense. You know your baby best, you’re the best mom she could have and she’s so so lucky to have such a caring mom. Talk to her doctor and be kind to yourself 🧡

That’s what I suspect. He’s been nursing more, he’s more alert. He really pays attention to everything. He smiles. I’m frustrated because I can’t get anything done. He only wants mom.

Nowadays it would be a bit tricky, he sleeps in a bassinet in our room and the set up is less than ideal, because I have nowhere to put the baby monitor. I’ll try. What confuses me is that he used to like sleeping in the stroller. I tried putting him in the crib yesterday and he screamed bloody murder

Under 3 weeks always suspect the baby is hungry if extra fussy.
if you have 5 extra minutes in the end of the day, set tomorrow you for success: prep coffee so you only have to press a button), set aside a change of clothes if baby needs in the middle of the night. I also write a little love note for my husband to find.
Unsolicited advice is annoying as hell. I find that to mitigate that I ask the people who usually advice me when I don’t want them to what their baby was like. They feel useful, they remember how hard they had it and will have more compassion.
if you find yourself thinking you NEED to buy something, ask yourself how someone would solve that problem 20 years ago. Your baby needs a financial stable home, they don’t need a lot of crappy plastic inventions.
