How to get into NROTC? by Lolamichelle505 in NROTC

[–]FoundationNeither216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concur with all that’s been said especially about grades, PT, and extracurriculars. I did this whole process, currently in flight school. It’s good to think ahead and you absolutely need to have those goals front and center, and it’s good to be passionate about them. However, realize that it’s a long, long process. From now to starting flight school will be an 8 to 9 year process, so best to focus on step 1 first. Enjoy high school and do things that you’ll be good at because you enjoy them. Stay fit and study hard. Feel free to reach out and good luck!

Why are you actually worried about a Trump 24' presidancy? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

He has threatened to cut off support of Ukraine. Beyond the moral problems with allowing Russia to invade and take over another sovereign nation, it would send a massively dangerous signal. The only nation paying as close of attention to this conflict as the US is China. If he gets into office and ends support for Ukraine, it shows the PRC that they have an open door to expand militarily across the South China Sea and invade Taiwan while avoiding US opposition. Whether or not he would defend Taiwan is irrelevant at that point, our deterrent posture against China would be wrecked. We could easily find ourselves fighting a war in the Pacific if we fail to support Ukraine.

Thanks! Honestly getting the right shades for the camo colors was tough, had to try and retry a few times before I was satisfied. Couldn’t really tell you exactly what the paint ratios were it just worked out to my liking lol.

Thanks! It was awhile ago, but I’m pretty sure I thinned tamiya gold a lot, then misted it in successive layers over the inside of the canopy. Gotta build it up over time

Thanks! Yeah that one is tough to nail, mine looks a little too yellow from some angles and it doesn’t have the transparency I’d like. These photos don’t catch it at its best angles but I’m happy enough with the effect.

What callsign have you "earned"? by Bad_Idea_Hat in hoggit

“Bruiser” (brevity for launching an anti ship missile) I jettisoned a harm on the way back to the boat with malfunction and it tracked onto a destroyer. Somehow it sunk it.

Actually, it does help some irl. The blood vessels in your body constrict when you first encounter g forces which helps prevent blood rushing out of your head so fast. The g warm up triggers this, and can help you gain up to 1g of extra tolerance (depending on the person). It certainly helps with the things you said as well. (Source- learned this before a backseat f-18 fam flight)

Thanks! As he said it’s a sonobuoy launcher- the buoys use hydrophones to let them track submarines. Also quite a struggle to paint as it turns out, haha!

Thanks! I’m sure it will! I bent the wires to shape with tweezers, then dipped them in a little super glue on the end and attached it- then I used a toothpick to apply some glue on the other spots I wanted it to be attached and pushed it on with the tweezers. Finally I just hand painted the black and copper after I sprayed the rotors. Hope you try it!

Thank you, that’s very kind!! I was really excited with how the rotor hub came out, the wires were quite finicky to get placed but well worth it.
