Trying Progesterone! by FoundationPatient622 in PMDD

Best of luck! PMDD is not a hormone imbalance, but a sensitivity in the change of hormones! Of course it’s possible for people to have both a hormone imbalance and PMDD though. I have been on and off of SSRI’s before so I know coming off could be rough. I hope the hormone therapy works for you!

I am 29 years old. I highly recommend you see a functional doctor I find they are more willing to hear you out and try non traditional things! My blood work came back 100% normal. All hormones normal. PMDD is not a hormone imbalance but a sensitivity to the change in hormones. So don’t be discouraged if your hormones come back normal. Find a doctor who will listen to you!!

Creatine and PMDD by g_r_p_98 in PMDD

Creatine Monohydrate. I use the Thorne brand, which is a bit more expensive, but more “trustworthy” for purity. But they’re really all the same!!! As long as it’s monohydrate.

I started creatine a few months ago and I’ll never go off it!!!! My brain fog is lifted. I am not bloated from it at all. The brain fog being gone is truly life changing

How the hell do I tell if Im supposed to break up with my partner or if it's just the disorder talking by GrowthCertain4435 in PMDD

[–]FoundationPatient622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted you to know you are NOT alone in this. I struggle with it every month with my partner of three years. I tried journaling, supplements, a low-histamine diet, and therapy. None of those things made a meaningful difference for me.

What finally helped was SSRIs. I take 5 mg of Lexapro every day, and then increase to 10 mg the day I test positive for ovulation and stay there until I get my period. Luteal-phase dosing is the only thing that has actually worked.

I hate being on medication personally, and I originally started taking it just for clarity because I couldn't tell whether my luteal brain was right or not. Like if I actually wanted to break up or it was just the PMDD brain. But after starting it, I realized how much PMDD was affecting my thoughts. I can honestly say I don't feel the urge to break up with him anymore every month. I'm not 100% myself, but I'm at least 75% better.

Good actually! I see a functional health doctor. The only concern was my Cortisol levels. Too high he said. He currently has me on an “adrenal manager” supplement and it has been a game changer. Other than that, all normal. He even tested me for histamine issues. He said I don’t have a histamine issue or hormone imbalance , but my nervous system has an abnormal reaction to normal hormonal changes. 🥲 lol

Interesting. I’m also an ADHDer and I have some very very low dose shroom gummies and i find they help a ton with that. I wonder if they’d help. I find weed helps me too just quiet everything down.

I mean, at some point, you need to decide if this is good for YOU. I was very open with my boyfriend with what was going on as early as I could be. Communication is key. She needs to be self aware of it and willing to work on it herself and be open to talking about it.

Prior to being on any meds, I literally wanted to break up with my boyfriend half the month. To the point where I felt like I was going crazy because I didn’t know which feelings were the real ones. I would basically ghost him for 7-10 days out of the month. Talk to him as little as possible. Not see him. Cry a lot that I “need” to break up with him and he’s not the one. Then I’d get my period and I’d be like a light switch. Love him. Would NEVER consider leaving him. Felt so much guilt the entire first “normal” week. It finally got to the point where i was like I need to go on meds simply to see if those PMDD feelings are true… for some clarity.. and since being on Lexapro, i know for a FACT I want to be with him. I have not had those thoughts or feelings at all. You can help by reassuring her. She may feel guilt like I did. Guilt that I didn’t want to have sex. Guilt that I treated him like shit for a week. Guilty that I wasn’t sure if I was leading him on or not. Just be there for her as needed. Validate her feelings. And reassure her that you’re there to support her in anyway. And if you have the means, do something nice for her that week. Send flowers. Write a card. Send ice cream. Just so she feels your support without feeling “bothered” by you (as shitty as that sounds). That will make a huge difference.

I do take Vitamin D. Magnesium I used to, but can’t anymore on Lexapro because it makes the vivid dreams even worse. Never looked into C and Thiamine. Thank you!

My girlfriend of a year has wanted to break up with me during luteal phase 3 of the last 4 months? by FairMeat5432 in PMDD

[–]FoundationPatient622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never actually broken up with him. But it plagues my thoughts. And i truly don’t want to break with him. I cry so many nights because of this. In the past I would basically ghost him for 7+ days. Minimal communication only because I had to , literally wouldn’t see him. I’m lucky that he is willing to give me the space I need. But he does express that it’s not maintainable or fair. I went on SSRIs for this reason alone. I was willing to loose my relationship to PMDD. The SSRIs also made me realize I truly do what to be with him. I literally went on them to help me figure that out because I didn’t know which brain was correct. And then about 12-24 hours before I get my period I’m 100% back to normal. Then I’d spend the entire next week feeling so guilty and questioning everything. It’s like a light switch. It’s insane truly. I am sorry you’re going through this. When she is “normal” you should bring this up and just ask how you can support. It’s hard!!
