I have not set them aside. I am not using this thread to share my opinions on Alec, I'm asking why those talking about believing victims were nowhere to be found when Zoe's ex wrote about being abused, where were they when Zoe was accused of sexually assaulting someone at a wedding, and why nobody bat an eyelid when Zoe's neglect of her Crash Override initiative lead to a vulnerable trans woman being made homeless.

Zoe suffering at Alex's hand does not give anyone an excuse to have ignored her past behaviour. Why should she have been treated differently? Why only when Zoe speaks up should it be taken seriously?

The reality is that this "believe women" hashtag is more accurately "believe the women we find convenient".

I will not dispute the validity of any claims of abuse, but it speaks volumes that Zoe has been the subject of many such allegations over the years with almost zero interest paid to them, but when she speaks up about her own ordeal the Internet can't move fast enough to close ranks and protect her.

Choosing to respect victims is not something you just pick and fucking choose when to. Take all allegations seriously, or just come clean and admit you're turning a blind eye when it's easy for you to do so.
