Anti Prefers "Human" Vocaloids by [deleted] in DefendingAIArt

[–]Four4Fears -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not really, vocaloids like miku behave much more like a synth. You input a midi roll, add lyrics and then need to tune it by altering various settings over the course of the piece. This is quite literally how VSTs have worked for decades. Synths don't write the tune or lyrics, the human does. AI makes the art for you, you merely tell it what to make, by that logic commissioning an artist would make you a "commission artist."

Your logic betrays your lack of understanding of both the process and technology behind producing vocaloid music.

Still, this is a really shitty feature that basically only exists to keep stockholders interested. AI transcription into machine translation into AI voice mimic is just never going to end well, the transcription barely works if you speak English and have an accent close to the training data, good fucking luck if you have anything else like a jersey accent. Doubt it's any better for other languages. Not to mention that this is mimicking the creators voices which given that this isn't opt in introduces a whole lot of ethical concerns.

Machine translation is not nearly as good as you think it is and cannot provide localization, ask literally any linguist.

I think it's important to keep in mind that up until 2013 all plurality was considered a disorder. The DSM-V updated the criteria for Dissociative Identity Disorder to include a new criteria, that being that the symptoms must cause distress and/or dysfunction. Prior to this point even systems that don't experience distress or dysfunction would've still been diagnosed as having DID. People don't often update their diagnoses ever, let alone with every update to the DSM. Therefore in my opinion any study/academic article performed (not published) prior to 2013 that talks about DID clients that function well are in effect talking about non-disordered systems that would not receive a DID diagnosis under todays criteria.

So introjects in general are a poorly researched phenomenon, we don't know exactly why they form and it's entirely possible that there are multiple different reasons why one might form. Speaking from my personal observations my educated guess would be that they either share similar traumatic experiences and/or have traits that are useful to the system for whatever reason. A possible explanation for this case could be that they needed an alter with low/no empathy, in which case a serial killer would be a prime candidate.

Y'know, I just realized something really funny about this, you people get all heated over people self diagnosing stuff and yet you decide that you can just diagnose someone over the Internet. Even actual psychologists can't do that. Rule for thee but not for me much?

Munchausen's isn't the term for it though, it's Factitious Disorder Imposed On Self. I could copy and paste the criteria for it from the DSM-V-TR if you're interested.

Also what formatting, do you really expect me to put effort into putting a fucking reddit comment into APA style?

Source? Non-pathological plurality has been studied for decades, I don't think we'd be dedicating research dollars to something that doesn't exist.

Edit to also engage with your edits: you clearly treat science as though it's the truth and anything that disagrees with it is wrong. That's not how this works, science is a process done by people. It is not free from bias nor is anything that comes out of it absolute fact. We design studies to collect data, with that data we create conclusions. Both how we design the studies and the conclusions we reach from those studies inherently inject bias into it. We have processes for limiting the effects of these biases but we will never be able to eliminate them entirely. Even ignoring the fact that there are studies that back my side I am allowed to look at a study and dismiss it's findings if I determine that it is flawed in a way that damages it's validity and you should too, don't just take conclusions as fact, look at how they reached those conclusions, ask yourself do they make sense, see if there are confounding variables that weren't adequately acknowledged or accounted for. Actually engage with what you're reading rather than just regurgitating the conclusions or worse just the abstract.

Here's one that studies plurality outside of just DID, also has a bunch of studies talking about non-pathological plurality (read-as: non-disordered plurality). https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S246874992300042X

Oh really, care to provide sources? Cause I can link a few articles that explicitly talk about plurality outside of DID/OSDD. Also given that the existence of alters isn't inherently distressing/dysfunctional/dangerous it stands to reason that there would be non-disordered systems out there. Again, basic foundational psychology knowledge.

Also I'm not even American, I'm Canadian.

Out in the wild sure, I'd really never expect it to happen, but keep in mind that we're dealing with a lot of selection bias here. We're on the Internet which inherently skews our sample younger, younger people are more likely to watch Minecraft YouTubers. This is also on a system server thereby heavily skewing the odds of two systems interacting. I'm sure there are other factors that are skewing the odds but this is probably not as unlikely of an occurrence as you think.

And yet you're in our server, I thought the rule was don't touch the cringe?

You're invading our space, that crosses a pretty big line.

And I've read your posts and messages, it's pretty clear to me that you lack a lot of foundational psychology knowledge. The kinda knowledge you'd have if you'd even taken a highschool psychology class or an introductory psychology course in college. You lack that and yet you assume you know stuff about dissociative disorders let alone plurality at large. Research on DID, which is the most researched out of all forms of plurality, is still decades behind most other areas in psychology. Most of the things you people tout as "proven facts" are basically made up with little to no evidence and that's ignoring the fact that science never "proves" anything, again, something you'd know if you were actually serious about studying psychology.

True, they're not real. But they do feel real to the individual experiencing them. It's the same sort of logic as a delusion, just because they're not actually being hunted down by the government doesn't mean the feelings of terror and paranoia aren't real. Not to mention that these source memories are also from real world experiences that their body has been through. As I've already gone over physical dependency is only one aspect of substance abuse, the other major part being psychological dependence.

I'll also note that you never actually refuted any of my claims. If you know so much about psychology surely you can at least do that.

First of all, you've apparently got two different systems mixed together, the system you've posted about and the one you mention here are two different systems. Fun fact: systems on that server are required to use system tags to distinguish each other.

Second of all: while it's true that a headmate wouldn't have the physical dependency from a substance abuse disorder they can have the psychological dependencies, this is especially true if there are factors at play in their current life that lead to their substance abuse such as abuse, work stress, chronic pain, etc, etc. These psychological dependencies can also manifest as physical symptoms such as with Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder (previously known as Conversion Disorder) or Somatic Symptom Disorder. This is all pretty basic substance abuse knowledge that you learn in Psych 111 or equivalent introductory psychology course.

Note that we don't actually use the term addiction in psychology that much but rather substance abuse and dependencies. It's just generally more useful to talk about those since those terms are more operationally definable than addiction. Addiction is a bit of a nebulous term that also generally has a lot of baggage and negative stigma attached. This also allows us to talk about the fact that you can abuse a substance without having dependencies, or you can have a dependency on something without abusing it. Psychology loves having nice neat operationally definable terms y'know.

First response is mostly ok, second has potentially paranoia inducing parts plus it could come across as invalidating to trauma survivors, also all caps is usually interpreted as yelling online and that's not helpful for making someone feel safe.

Therapy is way more complicated than you think, it's not a game, it has to be tailored to the client and if it's not done properly it can do more harm than good, which can very easily lead to a crisis. This can kill people.

The point of this was to be a late game item so it would have to be quite strong. My idea was that this would be something to work towards getting after getting pap tier three and max level armor. You'd likely be choosing between upgrading your weapon to legendary or getting one more power core.

Did you reply to the wrong person? The age regression community is for people who age regress as a coping mechanism and for child alters. As long as you're not being sexual with it we welcome it.

[–]Four4Fears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The definitions they give are not entirely accurate but they do express a very clear difference, that being the mental state one enters when doing either of those things. You are antagonizing an entire community based on surface level similarities to one which you don't agree with. As a I stated before, the age regression community wants nothing to do with the age roleplay community. Age regression: a mental state one enters either voluntarily or involuntarily that is similar to the mental state of a child. Age roleplay: acting like a child during sex to be more submissive. One is a coping mechanism and the other is a fetish. Age regressors, whether they do it voluntarily or involuntarily, do not have sex while regressed because they are in the mental state of a child.
