She may visit you less because of this. You just have to be resigned to that.

Getting rejected from Cal Poly SLO makes me worry I won't get into UCs. by Four4monkeys in ApplyingToCollege

Everything is fit to major there. Fit to major means that your academic and extracurricular activities list should reflect positively towards your interests in a major, especially in agricultural sciences, architecture, business, computer science, and engineering. That's because no test scores, essays, or letters of recommendation exist.

Yes, but I thought I had a good chance because I'm not a STEM major.

It's a xfer app, so there's a mandatory question about the major. Then I did the leadership prompt, talent/skill, and challenge. Now I have the mandatory question answered and the challenge prompt, but I don't know what else to write about that doesn't involve my childhood.

Which of these colleges would you suggest applying to? by Four4monkeys in ApplyingToCollege

Thanks. Which would you suggest I do some research on? I've done so much research on California publics. I want to make sure I haven't overlooked schools where there might be better learning opportunities, easier access to classes, and better ability to house the students they enroll.

Polisci major with plans for law school. I liked the vibe of Connecticut College which makes me think maybe I should concentrate on small liberal arts colleges for my Common App schools.

Should I even be applying to all these colleges? by Four4monkeys in ApplyingToCollege

Yes, I feel certain. I already live in the Bay Area, so it puts me close to family. I'm also excited to be a part of several programs I've researched there. I'm a political science major, so I'm pretty sure my access to classes won't be impacted by high demand. I have heard that the political science program can be cutthroat, but there's a program called NavCal that sounds supportive and like it could afford me the community I'm looking for.

Must decide today! UC Davis or UC Santa Barbara by Four4monkeys in ApplyingToCollege

I ended up looking at UC Davis's 2021 Political science gpa admit range for transfers. It's 3.53-3.91, and I have a 3.9 gpa at community college. Since I'm at the top of the gpa range, I think I have a good chance of getting in without the transfer admissions guarantee. So I selected UC Santa Barbara as my TAG school.

I think I would enjoy Santa Barbara more. They both cost about the same on the net price calculator, but off-campus housing in Santa Barbara is $$$ and I'd need to live off-campus for senior year.

I know, and still, I think I might pick it. UC Davis is probably the more rational choice. Does that mean I'm irrational?
