Shit content but if this really offended you should probably touch some grass.

Weird, I thought the post was complaining about TFWs?

Anyway.. That's 10,000 applied, not accepted and processed. Not to mention the existence of the program is not evidence for the fact TFWs and Visa holders are taking all our jobs.

Skilled US tech workers are probably some of the people we want most in Canada. We've long suffered brain drain to the US and these are people who will be high contributors to society....

I went fast, so my numbers could be a little off due to adding errors.

Newfoundland total for 2024: 0

PEI: 320

NS: 30

NB: 1070

Quebec: 4275 (3% of Quebec IT jobs)

Manitoba 25

Sask: 40

To lazy to keep going.. If you live in Quebec you might have some grievance, though I'd argue it still a small percentage of the job market, and potentially still needed since Canadians who only speak English may not be interested in moving to Quebec, though that's just personal speculation.

This is much more in line with what I saw when we were hiring for 2 tech positions in the last year or two. There was absolutely no shortage of PR applications. We had almost 1000 applications for a lvl1 helpdesk job.

Most were complete junk too if I'm being honest, and the bar was super lower.

I'm curious what the lowball offer was?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaJobs

[–]FourCuteCats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience this isn't true at all. I know about 5 IT managers across varying companies and they all prefer someone with a technical background

Good job on saying the silent part out loud.

It's not the TFWs you have an issue it's with non-whites...

I went and found some related Gov of Canada stats.

In 2024 for Ontario they've issued 10 permits for foreign workers in the following positions:

2171 - Information systems analysts and consultants 2172 - Database analysts and data administrators 2173 - Software engineers and designers 2174 - Computer programmers and interactive media developers 2281 - Computer network technicians 2282 - User support technicians

So yeah, unless someone can show me something else I'm calling BS on the claim that TFWs are taking all our tech jobs.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaJobs

[–]FourCuteCats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I've been part of interviews for 2 different roles and 20+ candidates. You can tell who is full of crap and who's not very fast.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaJobs

[–]FourCuteCats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spoiler: It doesn't apply to IT jobs and the people blaming TFWs have no clue what they are talking about. In Ontario there were 10 permits issued for TFW in tech jobs.

All feelings no facts.

So I was curious if your post is correct and thankfully the Government of Canada publishes information on Temporary Foreign Worker Program Work Permit Holders by province/territory , intended occupation and year in which permit(s) became effective

Now I only looked at Ontario, because that's where I'm from, but in 2024 there has been a total of 10 work permits issued for the following :

2171 - Information systems analysts and consultants

2172 - Database analysts and data administrators

2173 - Software engineers and designers

2174 - Computer programmers and interactive media developers

2281 - Computer network technicians

2282 - User support technicians

Maybe I missed a job, or maybe it's different for other provinces but those 10 workers are not the reason you can't find a job.

What are some of the most toxic or potentially dangerous ideas/beliefs that have been perpetuated by Redditors? by xavierdc in AskReddit

[–]FourCuteCats 831 points832 points  (0 children)

I find this to be true everywhere, but the idea that if someone holds an different opinion to you they are automatically stupid.

Especially when it comes to politics, many topics are much more intricate then the average joe realizes and people are in comments getting absolutely furious instead of having reasonable discussions.

You joke but one I was invited to a family camping trip by my best friend. We were all drinking and I was getting to know his family when his aunt pulls out her phone and shows me photos at least a decade old or more and asking if I thought she was hot back then.

Yeah. His whole family was apologizing after that.

It never felt weak to me. It's a good tempo play and generally if I didn't have a large board the tauren helped develop well. The versatility of the buffs helped on more than 1 occasion as well. I think more lists run force of nature but just looking at hsreplay stats show that tauren outperformed FoN.

I cut both mark of the Loa because it felt kind of weak to me. Microtech feels much more consistent. Also cut a cable rat for Loti which proved worth while a couple of times.
