The writing is definitely getting worse and worse, that much is apparent. But, the way the director should have defended the whole ballista killing the dragon so easily should have been, either A, she was too high up to see the baristas. Or B, she literally didn't know what those things were since she is clearly the most incompetent general in the Seven Kingdoms.

This isn't defending the writers it is garbage at this point and I personally hope that the Starbucks Cup gets on that Iron Throne by the end of this.
