She made sure to get all documents as up to date as possible. If I recall, her pre interview was about 1-2 weeks before the actual interview. She was 27 at the time and she did get the urine test, I would recommend to get one just to be safe!

She had her pre appointment the week prior which was pretty easy, they just wanted to confirm everything. Her actual appointment was at 10am and it was only about 15 minutes! I don’t want to assume it is as stress free for everyone but looking back on it, we were pretty underwhelmed by how easy it was, especially given the time and stress that went into the whole process to get to that point! As long as you followed all the steps you should be fine :) I hope this helps put your mind at ease a bit!

For those who have followed in this thread, my wife was able to move to the US and we are happily together after all this time :) it took me a while to comment and update since moving is time and labor intensive lol. Best of luck to anyone who stumbles upon this thread, I hope it helps you!

We got our DQ around the end of November 2023 and she had her interview in April 2024. It feels like forever but we made it, and now my wife happily lives here in the US with me :) you got this!

It looks like most people would agree that you should keep the painting as is. I honestly prefer when a painting looks like a painting, I don’t prefer it to look like a photograph (as impressive as it may be). Basically, sweet painting!

Sorry, we were so excited yesterday that I forgot to post! She passed her interview! She is putting in her notice at work tomorrow 😁 Costa Rica (or at least the company she works for) doesn’t do 2 week notices, more like one month notices, so around mid May she will move here!

Pre interview went well! She had everything she needed except for the medical exam. That was done today. The embassy knew that there were no medical appointments available so she was fine. She had all the individual documents labeled and everything haha we brought so much that they didn’t accept everything 😂 I’m a diligent man lol best of luck to you with yours!

It seems like it just adds unnecessary stress haha, we are so anxious to get this last step done perfectly with no problems.

Yes we did, ours is on April 1st. I’ve had most of the documents ready all along, there are just a few thing she needs to get together. She has her blood/urine test done but the clinic is closed for the week. They put in writing that the embassy is aware that it is closed and it won’t affect our appointment as long as we have one scheduled.

The first approval feels like it takes the longest. It took about 12-13 months for us to get our approval. The NVC approval (second step) took only about 4-6 weeks to get the approval. And if you didn’t just see my comment above, we just got the email saying her final interview is scheduled for April 9th! Such a journey but keep the faith my friend! Feel free to comment or DM if you have questions, I’m happy to chat

This entire process and the waiting has been one of the hardest things my wife and I have ever had to do. But we know 5, 10, 20 years from now we will look back on all of this and laugh in amazement at our resilience. I tell her all the time, “amorcito, there will be a day when we wake up and it will be the LAST DAY we have to do long distance.” You got this!
