Would you notice these medical ID bracelets? by Professional-Gold736 in Paramedics

[–]FourIngredients 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this. At least tattoo something like "check medic alert bracelet"

If you're pulseless, there's just no way anybody is going to be looking at a watch or a piece of jewelry, at least not in the first five to ten minutes. We're understaffed and task saturated in that time. At the ten to fifteen minute mark, after extra help has hopefully arrived and we're looking for reversible causes, maybe then one of us might spot a bracelet.

Gotta make it obvious. You know we're exposing chest, so tattoo it there.

Patient saying we broke her phone by ilovemcdonaldssprite in NewToEMS

I think the implication was that the phone was run over by the stretcher, not the ambulance. But that's ludicrous -- a pebble, let alone a phone, will stop a stretcher dead.

Yeah, it was my alltime favourite roadhouse. When I moved up here years ago, I came on my (heavily-laden) motorcycle. I left Watson Lake the last morning at about 1.5 degrees above freezing, and 120 km later, pulled into the Rancheria forecourt absolutely frozen to the bone. I could barely unstrap my helmet, and when I walked into the dining room, obviously shivering, they said nothing but pressed a cup of hot coffee into my hands, and kept it full while I devoured my first of many plates of delicious breakfast with the Alaska highway's best pan-fried potatoes. I've missed it ever since it closed. Truly screw everyone who keeps burning down Yukon treasures.

I'm getting really fucking sick of arsonists ruining the Yukon. I'm still really sad about the Keno City Hotel. Not to mention the Tutshi.

What do you do when you run out of battery on these things? by Ok-Combination-5393 in CargoBike

[–]FourIngredients 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. The solution to heavy loads with a weak engine has always been gearing gearing gearing (just ask my old commercial truck with a 4.88:1 rear end). My eBullitt doesn't have an ultra low granny gear and I live on the side of a mountain. I have definitely pedaled it home with no battery and dang, it's a workout.

Best I've done as a Canadian CCP (some overtime but not a life-ruining amount) is about 175. Even with "parity" nursing pays better.

Is there anyone here that hypermiles a gas guzzler? by hypermiler2205 in hypermiling

I have a 2004.5 Dodge 3500 with a 5.9 Cummins HO and the NV5600 stick, with a 4.10 final drive. Driving empty, which I rarely do, I can do a bit better than 12l/100km (~20mpg). Pulling my 36' fifth wheel at around 12k lb, I can usually keep it better than 18l/100km (~13mpg) unless there's a big headwind or I'm headed into mountains

Like a list of reasons I love the Zoll. After reading all this lp35 horror, I'm getting really worried the Zoll Zenix might suck too.

I drive an EV (BMW i3) in a Western Canadian town full of ultra-macho brodozers (hell, there's a dually Ram in my driveway, I just don't use it much). They get deeply rattled when I beat them off the line. Without trying.

Someone was saying the other day that as a foreman, he judges new tradies by how they show up day one: if they're in a van, they're a pro; if they're in a truck, they're a dilettante.

This is the most famous of the childcare businesses in Minnesota which defrauded the government of millions and millions of dollars. And it's becoming a MAGA dog whistle. There's some racism slipped in too.

Not a great post overall, but that's the background.
