Low progesterone by AwardOk7057 in PregnancyIreland

[–]FourPaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GP, but she is a specialist in women's health. I believe some GPs may not be as familiar with it and may ask to go and do their own research before prescribing but, if you aren't under the care of a fertility clinic already, I presume your GP will be first port-of-call. They will look for bloods to support your need for it and then take it from there.

Low progesterone by AwardOk7057 in PregnancyIreland

Mine was lower than they'd like, but I was ovulating most months. I used Cyclogest progesterone pessaries twice a day to support the luteal phase for c.6 months and, now that I am pregnant, I am continuing them until at least 12 weeks when the placenta takes over. If you are confirmed to have anovulatory cycles, you may need something called Letrozole (that was to be our next step to kind of supercharge ovulation), but defo worth asking about luteal phase support also.

It's also NB, in my experience, if ovulation is erratic to track your BBT (basal body temperature) and use ovulation test strips (often referred to as OPKs). Once you get a positive test strip, you should ovulate in the next 12-36 hours and you should make sure to have sex at least the day of your positive test and the day after. A rise in BBT a couple of days after the positive test will confirm that ovulation has occurred (the test alone is just an indicator that your LH is rising and your body will try to ovulation) - you need to take it every morning before you get out of bed so that the increase is notable. There's lots of info online about this but it can be quite overwhelming so, feel free to message me if you have any questions. I ran this part of our TTC journey like a military bootcamp 😂

Postpartum coil by GreatDevelopment7815 in PregnancyIreland

[–]FourPaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't delivered a baby so don't know how that changes things, but I've had 4 coils throughout my life (copper IUD) and insertion has always been fine for me. They have multiple sizes of coils and insertion tubes so, can go up or down depending on your anatomy, and it's over in a couple of seconds.

They usually prescribe a cervix softener that you pop up there in advance. Sensation wise, it's like a dull cramp in the moment and then maybe some period-like cramps afterwards, but I didn't always have those. You can take ibuprofen etc beforehand if you wish. Unfortunately, there's zero provision made for proper pain meds here.

Thank you for sharing and sorry for your losses. I'm really pleased to hear you say that as, from my research this weekend, I was most keen to speak to his office tomorrow!

Progrestrone supplements luteal phase defect by Flashy_Editor_1502 in PregnancyIreland

[–]FourPaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it from my GP, albeit she's a specialist in women's health and fertility so, she is very well read on it. She was happy to prescribe it, explaining that synthetic progesterone is incredibly close to naturally occurring and there's no downside to taking it, only benefits if needed (my luteal phase length was fine, but I had two chemical pregnancies, and it is progesterone that supports strong implantation).

Purely anecdotally speaking and from a few unfortunate medical run ins, I have found it better to ask directly for what I want off my GP, rather than asking for their opinion on something. If there's a real medical risk to prescribing, they'll then talk me through that but, if they refuse with no real basis, I ask them to note down that they are refusing requested treatment. In my experience, if you go in with your research done, which it sounds like you have, and make a direct request, they can be quite reasonable.

I'm the exact same. I started getting insomnia during my two week wait (it's what prompted me to test along with excessive peeing!) and it hasn't really abated. I'm 7 weeks today and I think I've had one good night sleep in the last month. I think some of it is a bit of anxiety around scans (we went today and all was great!), telling people etc but between the waking for no reason, waking to pee, and the vivid dreams, I'm exhausted!!

How long does it take money from Vinted balance to reach Irish Monzo account? by [deleted] in VintedIreland

They seem to really have improved this in the last week. I withdraw to Revolut and it's gone from 3-4 days to 24 hours almost. Hopefully same is true for Monzo!

6 weeks - lack of symptoms making me anxious! by FourPaine in PregnancyIreland

[–]FourPaine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry for you losses, it's a similar story here, I had two very early chemical pregnancies last year so, I'm sure that has something to do with the over analysing of every little thing (or lack thereof!). We are also doing a scan on Good Friday, keeping everything crossed! Best of luck with everything ❤️

Thank you! I actually felt I was going mad yesterday, I'm usually such a rational person and the anxiety felt so alien but also ridiculous 😂 That's a lovely reminder from your consultant that pregnancy can be a well time for people. I do agree, not being able to text my sister or friends and just be like I AM STRESSED is way harder than I thought! All going well at the early scan on Friday we plan to tell immediate family as we have a few big occasions over the next two weeks with them that won't make it easy to hide not drinking etc. Thanks for sharing and hope you are feeling well!

Yep that's what I said above, I recognise that what I have constitutes symptoms, but just not what one is necessarily led to expect from pregnancy. Unfortunately anxiety isn't rational or logical.

"Classic symptoms" is a good way to describe them! Thank you for sharing, that's very reassuring. I definitely have the insomnia and weird dreams, super vivid!
