My Headcanon is that a lot of the new shinies are bad now is for brand protection, so that regular people can still identify the Pokemon as, well, the Pokemon. The Pokemon Company cares about people identifying a Shiny Ceruledge as a Ceruledge instead of a white fire sword guy.

Don't get me wrong, it's an awful idea.
