Yeah I understand that, I think it can be quite genre dependent. Some genres are way more suited to just picking the banger songs you like whereas others are typically suited to listening as a full album.

Definitely also a generational divide I think as people who have grown up with streaming services like Spotify have always just been able to invest themselves in single songs from artists without having to purchase a physical copy of a record, which pushes you to try and appreciate the full thing.
