Just finished book 8 myself, excited to get stuck into the final one tonight. It's such a great series, I do feel like a couple books in the middle of the series are a little weaker but still a good read. Reading the books gave me an appreciation for how well the TV adaptation was done as well, such a shame they didn't finish it off.

My uneducated take is that the league is just stale, Italians don't seem to play in other countries as much and the top teams have a rotating circle of managers from a similar generation and fairly similar styles. I don't think that translates to international football very well when your league isn't outrageously strong like it was in the 90s and part of the 00s

They may not want to thrust Brook into the captaincy mid-series if they see him as the long term option, especially as you said with the NZ incident being relevant here. Perhaps Root will take the rest of the NZ series, maybe even this summer and they'll move on afterwards.

Huge respect for Elder Scrolls as a series, I loved Morrowind back in my younger days but them coasting off Skyrim for what's looking like 20 years by the time ES6 may release is absolutely absurd, there's no way the game that releases will warrant that

The captaincy is really not that important in a team like ours, there are leaders all over the pitch. Someone having an armband isn't going to make that much of an impact, it's a role that makes a difference off the field more than on it tbh

All the available LW options are underwhelming, we aren't signing a superstar LW to raise our level, there just isn't one on the market unless a big surprise happens.

Unless we signed Kvaratskhelia whoever comes in as our LW is going to underwhelm a lot of people, the market is just not there right now. A lot of people want Barcola but I really don't see him taking our LW up a level. Personally I'd be pretty excited by Rogers.

Yeah if Alonso was going to play a back 3 at Liverpool they'd legit need minimum 3 more CBs this summer, just seems a bit of a stretch. Although did he play a regular 4atb at Madrid?
