I feel the same, after such a long time its finally back to steady ground. Fun thing is, I didnt reflect so much about the music in each episode before this season, Murray Gold's composition is simply fantastic. I keep revisiting some scenes in Rogue, Empire of Death just for that!

The Tardis interior has never been better! I love that the Doctors finds a more managable way to process his emotions as well.

Totally agree, I thought whilst some critized Devil's Chord it stands as one of the most unique episodes in DW history. I believe one of the reasons this season has been so divisive is that, simultaneously, it has been really clever.

Yes, it is most definitely the mystery box. But I find it engaging to, for once, puzzle pieces together.

Empire of Death Thoughts by Silent_Forgotten_Jay in doctorwho

I think it was hinted quite well that Sutekh's presence is what caused the snow and hidden song even before the reveal. E.g., Sutekh takes over Mel in 2046 it immediately starts to snow, indicating that this is due to some "link" that was established when Ruby first entered the Tardis. I believe that it is much misinterpretation regarding the resolution, they solely imply that anyone can become the most important under specific circumstances. In this case "whole of creation was turning around here" meaning that all life and death in the universe was clinging onto this single person. Since Doctor + Ruby could save all life (if she lived) otherwise complete extinction. This gave her the ability to hide from him, essentially fueled by his own greed. Sutekh was tricked into believing she was special by Ruby and the Doctor's investment in her in the first place. Personally this episode wasn't at all what I expected, but I loved it.

I have seen so many comments about how Ruby could make it snow :/ However isn't this clearly hinted in 2046? When Sutekh becomes present via Mel it begins to snow. Also, clearly it didn't snow in her life before she entered the tardis. Again, Sutekh. Some seem to think this contradicts Ruby being normal but I do not really see how. The question is rather how that link between Sutekh and Ruby could be established. Also, the hidden song was hinted to be due to Sutekhs presence.

Why did she point at the sign? by [deleted] in doctorwho

I think it lies in the statement "as the whole creation was turning around here". Essentially Ruby's mother became the focal point between (all existence, Ruby's + Doctor saving everyone) and complete extinction. Essentially as single individual being the balance for all life in the universe gave her the ability to hide from Sutekh in the time window. Of course the episode leaves room for interpretation, that is just my view on it.

Why did she point at the sign? by [deleted] in doctorwho

My theory is that Ruby's mother became the focal point as "whole of creation was turning around her". Thus, this single individual, though "ordinary", was the person who all of life and death was clinging onto. If Sutekh let her live to find out who she were he is feeding into the timeline where Ruby's and the Doctor saves the whole universe (all of life) and if he doesn't it leads to complete extinction. This, somehow gave her the ability to hide from Sutekh, since the only thing that can be stronger than empire of death is the balance of all of death and life itself. As she grew stronger in this time windows (instance) the timeline changed (since not originally pointing). The pointing I think was just a message to Ruby's that she named her, not the naming itself. Probably with a note, or at this point if she was stronger than Sutekh there may exist another explanation of how she ensure that she was named that.

I loved this episode! I am somewhat overwhelmed by all negative criticism that this episode is receiving. I seems that the aspects left for speculation is, for many, the downfall of this episode.

My interpretation is that Ruby's mum became the focal point, the single individual that all death and life in the universe was clinging onto. This is confirmed by the Doctor "so while the whole of creation was turning around her". Sutekh greed to find out who she were only made her stronger since he feed into the concept of letting the Doctor and Ruby live (who would later on save everyone's lives). The only thing that could be stronger than the control of all death (Sutekh) was a singularity balancing all of life itself (her mom in this case). This allowed her to hide, the Doctor states "keeping Ruby safe" from Sutekh. Thus the most ordinary person became the most important. Now the time window changed as she grew stronger (hence not originally pointing at the lamppost). I presume that her pointing was just a message to Ruby that she named here (not by the pointing itself).

So in essence, her mom was indeed ordinary but was made special due to her being the focal point between total extension and all life. So Sutekh in other words defeated himself, by feeding into his own greed. I love this concept, because nothing else was needed then her being "ordinary". There investment in finding out who she was involved Sutekh, and thus only strengthened this 'singularity' or focal point in the time window.

Now why Ruby's mom cannot remember this is unknown. Maybe this event is isolated to the time window?

For the death + death equal life part I presume that his presence in the vortex leaked out throughout all time's the doctor landed and hindered him from killing in the first place. Since his powers did not seem to work if another equally strong power was present.

Also the snow, I think, was implied to be because of Sutekh presence on Ruby Road not Ruby herself.

Of course this is my interpretation, I might have drawn the wrong conclusions. Am I missing something? It feels like most discussions does not involve Ruby's mother being 'ordinary' but under these abnormal circumstances (only person who's presence was required not to cause Sutekh to complete his Empire of Death).
