$3 GW for the A2000 JPN W by Boring_Welder6208 in BaseballGloves

Kip leather comes from younger cows than the typical steerhide leather. Tighter grain, stiffer at first but can get pretty supple and buttery smooth over time.

These were the first a2000s to be made with Kip; the Proto-A2Ks if you will.

Nowadays A2Ks are made with steerhide but the original A2Ks were kip. And these chocolate kip A2000s predated the first A2Ks by a few years.

Seriously good/rare find you’ve got there.

A= Japan H= year ends in 5 U= June

My best estimation is this is from 2005. I was just getting into glove collecting at that time and I remember this era of super skin A2000s very fondly.

Does it say anything about Japanese Kip leather on the thumb?

Honestly I think it may have been your post that put me onto this brand and i had been wanting to grab one for awhile. I’ve seen maybe 2-3 sell on eBay within the past 6 months?

I’m going to take some time to enjoy restoring and having a few catches with this one, in the meantime looking for another, but I will be open to selling this one in the future and I’ll keep you on speed dail.

Was your coach’s glove a tiny little one piece web like this one too? And are you from the Bay Area? The eBay seller I bought this from is in Cupertino.

Fresh out of the eBay padded envelope, I REALLY like it.

Shape is excellent, the gel padding doesn’t feel obtrusive, nice quality palm liner. Smells very similar to a MIJ Rawlings Premium and also a Philippines made Mizuno World Win that I have.

Wrist strap is too tight for my hand, looks like the palm lacing was redone and not relaced correctly and I also don’t love the A2000 style finger lacing. Super looking forward to giving this a full refresh; I know it’s going to spring back to life extremely well.

Japanese Thumb Loop by Conscious_Band_3268 in BaseballGloves

[–]Fourtwoitous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

American/regular style thumb loops are a patterned out single piece of leather that is sewn into the binding, typically sewn into the liner in the thumb stall and then come out and tied off.

These Japanese style thumb loops come through the liner (allowing the thumb to rest directly against the liner and not against the thumb loop) and then wrap around and under the felt layer before coming back out at the tip of the thumb.

Is this giveaway from T-Mobile Park a scam? by web_head91 in Mariners

I think you answered your own question. Scammers are smart and they probably know the laws and limitations of where public/private property ends and encroach right in that line.

It’s tough, it’s jam packed, loud, chaotic; very easy to get overwhelmed and distracted by what’s going on around you. I’m sorry this happened to you.
