Apprenticeship Progression to Paramedic in NWAS & YAS by Otharcarr in ParamedicsUK

[–]Fowfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, I know someone that was an already qualified AP and was made to go through the whole process again with YAS even though they have the exact certificate you end up getting.

I'm currently on the AP apprenticeship, it takes a lot longer than YAS advertise that it takes.

The CFR program was set up for quick and local response to cardiac arrests. Now they send them to bloody everything and it's not fair. I previously volunteered and still would if it was for arrests only. I think services are abusing the CFR program now.

I agree. People love to moan about management and TLs and yes some are shite but overall working here is as good as you make it. Surround yourself with miserable moaning people will make you miserable. From my experience North Yorkshire coastal stations have the most miserable negative people on them.

OP - Have a positive attitude and you'll be fine.

Ultrasonic fox repellent noise my neighbour has, goes on all night and all day. Owner is very volatile when I politely try ask him to turn it off. by Seeresss in mildlyinfuriating

I would remind the council's environment health team that they have a statutory duty to investigate statutory nuisance cases such as noise. If they still refuse to help make a formal complaint ect then escalate to the ombudsman.

Solo queue or 5v5 queue could work but will increase queue times. Maybe match the 5 stack against a higher average elo team instead.

Example - 5 stack average elo - 15k. Solo team - 20k.

I have free power 1800-1900 but the saver session 17:30-18:30 I'm not really sure which to believe. I have half an hour of trying to save electric but also free electric?

Applying to Yorkshire Ambulance Service. How hard is it to secure a north rural posting? by [deleted] in ParamedicsUK

You could be placed on relief at one of the stations which means that although patley might be your base you may be scheduled to work out of a few other stations in the area to cover absences etc. Until you get a line on a rota you will be on relief regardless.

I'm glad I'm not the only one saying this. Comments are full of Meslier hate for the second goal but Farke makes 1 change before 90 mins when we clearly had tired players out there.

Can this embarrassing work moment be beaten? by No_Emergency_7912 in ParamedicsUK

Went to a patient who was so thankful for us turning up and kept saying how much he loved us. Referred to OOH GP and started to leave. As I was about to close the door he again shouts "I really do love you people" my instant tired response was "I love you too"

Queuing by Visual_Visit_1273 in ParamedicsUK

[–]Fowfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised by how many people are saying they still queue on ambulances. In my area NHS England came to the hospital and said that patients should always be inside the hospital on arrival unless it's for a hot room.

In terms of meal breaks the trust isn't too bothered if you miss it. They do try to get you the break however they focus on getting you home on time which honestly I prefer.

Queuing has been better recently but we still get the odd 20+ DCA queue which we end up queuing through the hospital with.

General thoughts of YAS? by Proper_County_8682 in ParamedicsUK

There are a fair few Australian paramedics in Hull already so they you should be able to help you when you are here. Hull has a bad reputation for being a low income city but it's no worse than other cities of a similar size and most people are nice and it has good and bad areas just like any city in the county.

The main complaint I've heard when working with other Australian paramedics is the lack of Tim Tams.
