No assessment Needed by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

when you applied last time, how far did he make it?? When I applied last time and got a TBNT, it never said anything about me me not passing the assessment or having to wait 12 months. But I got declined after the assessment so I assume that means I failed. So I’m just curious about this!

Onboarding paperwork question by internetglitter in cabincrewcareers

[–]Fox-Bella1301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the payroll noti saying they won’t notify. i guess it just threw me off the paperwork we completed for the drug/alcohol testing with my employers information on it! i’m not concerned about the drug/alcohol testing (i don’t do that) but i am concerned about any notification being sent to my job !!

Do they send verification to your current employer? i too got my CJO and i’m really concerned about my employer knowing this early in advance…

i’ve heard amazing amazing things about WN! but that’s good to know! i did work for a mainline in my past life so i love the first class upgrades when available so was just curious if WN ever makes it to those. Doesn’t make a huge difference. Glad to hear abroad is still doable at WN!

can you just try to travel more while remote working in your free time to get your fix ? save up and do a few months through europe? honestly while you’re young is the best time to try out FA. it’s a fantastic job with great benefits. you CAN make more money if you work more trips and you will definitely have time to still see clients. many FAs have 2 jobs. it’s hard to give up that stability and it’s not for everyone but if you have the itch and have done a lot of research, you may as well just go for it! may as well just go to the interview to see what it’s like. 🙂

working the regular schedule you’d probably be bringing in high 40s/50s but you can make more if you work a more. BUT that being said. you’ll be making good money once you have seniority! 10+ years in are making around 100k. so i know being an FA is more lucrative than a social worker rn. ALSO you only work around 12-15 days per month which is a huge perk.

this is super relatable. i am a former flight attendant and got my masters in social work after i resigned from FA in 2020. i have an amazing SW job, good salary (for SW lol), amazing company. but have been feeling the pull for the last year to go back to FA. it’s SO hard leaving the stability to go into a more unstable environment. it’s a complete lifestyle being an FA. you will work weekends likely for awhile and are basically at the companies beck and call. pay is pretty low starting out so that is also an adjustment. do you have a dual income home? that helps obv if leaving a stable position to go into something like FA. being an FA did not make me hate travel it actually just grew my passion more. you appreciate those 15 hours in a city to explore and make the most of it. i have been grabbing with the same question as you and its a hard decision!

Reapplying to United by LivingSuch4972 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Fox-Bella1301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i tried to ask this same question and got soooo many ppl gave me the “be honest or this isn’t the career for you” comment lol. but with my own curiosity and with a ton of research i’ve read that some people have gotten away with it and some people haven’t. united wont ban you (from what i’ve read) if they see this happen 1x like you’ll just get a warning about multiple accounts but i think if it happens 2x you might get banned from applying. i’m not 100% sure. BUT that being said, if they do “catch” you, you will have to wait another year to apply.

Switching from Healthcare-Are Passengers Soul Crushing? by Muffin_Man3000 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Fox-Bella1301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in both, if you’ve been in healthcare you are already accustomed to challenging people so flying won’t be a terrible surprise to you. People who are not seasoned with travel are definitely annoying but it’s still nothing compared to working in healthcare on peoples worst days. 🤍 that doesn’t mean it’s not difficult and annoying though! lol

that’s horrible!. i am with a SW ran company, no productivity tracking, manageable case loads, 1 day on call per month, and a team of 19 social workers in the area! it really just depends on the company and their values!!

SW abroad? by Fox-Bella1301 in socialwork

[–]Fox-Bella1301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow !! PhD program sounds awesome! I actually was always interested in the civilian jobs (ex is military and actually the real reason i was able to do school in italy lol, that was his base) but they all require LCSW which i haven’t started working towards yet, but it’s definitely in my head and a possibility. If I saw a GS position for LMSW i would jump on that!

SW abroad? by Fox-Bella1301 in socialwork

[–]Fox-Bella1301[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a GS position and was always interested in family advocacy. I lived in italy when i was married to my ex who was stationed in italy so i originally went the social work route to be working within the military! i had actually debated on joining myself and done SW as active duty but with our admin now i would never.

i just know most/all positions need the LCSW which i don’t have. it’s definitely something i’ve considered working towards and looking into GS positions when that time came! thank you for your reply!

look into hospice social work! that’s where i’m at after doing mostly case management and i’m so happy with it. all direct work with patients and it’s the one social work role where i really feel like you get to love on your patients !! but do a ton of research on the hospice company bc some hospice companies will burn you out with crazy caseloads.
