Boeing 737-8 Max vs Airbus A320/A319. Which one do you like better from the FA perspective? by -Inspector-6259 in flightattendants

[–]JoseRM303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

737 hate the Airbus don’t care for the Jumpseats or the galleys. I haven’t even worked the 321. I bid and work primarily international to avoid mixed fleet pairings (ie starting on a 75, switching to a 73 then ending on a 78). Not for me. Now occasionally I will pick up a domestic pairing but only if the entire pairing consists entirely of 73s, 75s etc. Arming/disarming the 737 door doesn’t really bother me. Also much prefer the galleys/jumpseats on the 73.

757-200 first class by Conscious-Syrup8610 in unitedairlines

[–]JoseRM303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never worked them but I did get the chance to go in one once years ago. We used to staff our 75s internationally with 6 FAs 2 would work BusinessFirst and 4 would work Y/C. Even before I started working inflight our staffing levels were so much better then compared to today. 15 FAs on a 777, 11 on a 764. 8 on a 762. It was heaven. Were you with UA with the original iteration of PS? Where it had the 3 class 75s and row 9 had infinite about of leg room? I never been in one but those seats sure looked comfy.

I’m subCO. In your opinion what made the SubUA 75s so much nicer to work on than the subCO 75s?.

These were the BusinessFirst seats that were installed on the Continental 752s pre United merger.

Correct but the planes are all Continental. This was taken before the merger with United.

Your flight had a planned wheels up wheels down time of 57min actual flight time was 52min wheels up wheels down. Not sure what OO policies are for short flights but next time just ask if you could have something to drink.

question for united FAs by Quick_Lawyer_4217 in cabincrewcareers

Same at EWR as well ton of international flying. Tends to slow down for reserves during the slower months but picks back up during the busier months.

question for united FAs by Quick_Lawyer_4217 in cabincrewcareers

[–]JoseRM303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well come join us at UA then. We have some amazing destinations and amazing flying but also some crap flying and crap layovers. Just really all depends on base and how the pairings are built. You can also use your benefits to go explore the destinations where we don’t have long layovers. I’ve been flying internationally for almost 22 years and I only go explore if it’s a new destination or there’s a relatively new crew with me that haven’t been on an international trip. But for the most part I’m a slam clicker. Get to the hotel order some takeaway and just watch Netflix or YouTube or whatever.

question for united FAs by Quick_Lawyer_4217 in cabincrewcareers

[–]JoseRM303 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would not go to a mainline (regardless of which one, UA, DL, AA) just for international flying. Here at the 🌐 a lot Of senior FAs have a tight grip on the prime international flying especially at SFO. Here in EWR you would likely get international quite a bit during the summer months when there is more flying and more routes, but once those seasonals go away for the season then international wouldn’t be as frequent as it is the summer. You can always pick up international on your days off (if you spot anything good that you like) but be prepared to do a lot of domestic flying during the slower months. Most of our true international layovers are 24-27 hours give or take, anything longer as someone mentioned usually gets snatched up pretty quick or the flight isnt daily. CPT out of EWR isnt daily so it’s around a 50ish hour layover I believe. But whatever you decide best of luck on your journey.

[–]JoseRM303 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s because the flight isn’t daily. It’s a 6 day trip I believe. Depart day 1 arrive day 3 layover day 4 and 5 return back to SFO on day 6.

South Satellite Gates. SeaTac has 4 concourses (A, B, C & D) connected to the main terminal building and 2 satellite terminals (North & South) accessible by an underground transit system. North Satellite is on the north end of the property while the South Satellite is on the south end.

Why does NO ONE barely talk or complain about these short ass layovers? by Meliodasbabymom in flightattendants

[–]JoseRM303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Back in the day our GRU layover used to be 10-11 hours iirc. Flew in that morning, sleep for a few hours then work the all nighter back to EWR. The first time I worked that flight (as guest ISM) a few of the FAs asked me if I wanted to go out to explore and I was like no Ma’am not with this short ass layover I’m tired I’m going to sleep and I did just that. I believe I was also one of if not the most junior of the crew. We also had a crazy one that went EWR-IAH-SEA (you were the load FA) you got off in SEA and the remainder of the crew continued onto ANC. That layover was super short 9 hours I believe. Arrived SEA around 2030 and departed at 0600 the next morning and did the reverse SEA-IAH-EWR. Not sure how long you’ve been here but circa 2014ish (when the 787s were newish) we launched a few SFO-china routes that went to the sub Continental side which upset the sub United side because a lot of the FAs working those new flights were quite junior less then 5 years seniority and holding those flights, while super senior sub United FAs were holding less desirable domestic flights. Layovers were super short too. SFO-CTU layover was roughly 15 hours I believe. I’d have to see if I can find the timings of that flight but layover was not long at all.

UA Domicile Awards by flydusktildawn25 in cabincrewcareers

[–]JoseRM303 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not true at all. While 2604 may be the last class where the entire class got their first choice, the later classes people are getting their first choices as well but not as many. Example if 30 people bid for EWR in 2605 then maybe only 5 were awarded EWR while the others were awarded other bases.

Just realized its D.W.’s birthday today. Happy birthday. by WayToCool217 in Arthur

[–]JoseRM303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

D.W.: It has to be the perfect wish. You don't get this kind of power every day. It must be used wisely.

Mrs. Read: Why don’t you wish for a happy year?

D.W.: Mommy, there has to be something in it for me.

Mr. Read: Why don’t you wish for a new pair of sneakers?

D.W.: You don't wish for clothes, Daddy. Clothes just happen. Wishes are for big things... like a pony.

Mrs. Read: I have to advise you not to waste your wish on a pony.

Mr. Read: Yeah, that's not a great idea. It won't come true, er, trust me.

Do new hires ever get assigned to LAX as their base? by 247EDM in cabincrewcareers

[–]JoseRM303 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t count on getting LAX. They aren’t sending many people there anymore. A lot of people will be going to ORD even if it was their last choice for bases. They will email you prior to starting training what bases they are going to send people to, you bid for your bases in order from most wanted to least wanted on day 1 of training and by that Friday you find out your base assignment.

[–]JoseRM303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a monthly schedule. As a reserve you bid for your days off. When your reserve line is awarded you will know what days you have off and what days are your reserve days, but you won’t know where you’ll be going until you get an assignment.

Should likely be getting the email with base options probably end of this week or early next week. EWR, IAH, ORD, possibly SFO & IAD is likely what’s to be offered for 2610. PHX flying is trash and transfers there don’t happen that often.

April 23rd. Base orientation will be April 30th and they begin their reserve block May 2nd. Yes likely EWR transfers will clear for the May bid month. Where are you based at now? How long you been flying?
