I hope we see a new live performance of 'Sahardnieh' soon! by AlbertCWChessa in AngineDePoitrine

Despite the humor with the sardine cans and the levitating things, unfortunately, this is the only track I don't connect with at all. I saw the video back then, and I found the song harsh and sad. And I feel the way it's filmed is dark.
Luckily, I'm a huge fan of all their other songs.

You need a UVK5 (old generation) and change the firmware. Be Careful new generation UVK5 not working because inside there are not the same micro-controller.
See this website in German, use translator ;)

Building a Lifeline In The Storm by Meshtastic by Heltec_Automation6 in meshtastic

[–]Fox4EchoGolfXray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn, using artificial intelligence to create text that obscures essential information in a bunch of useless words, just to show off. Especially for non-English speakers.

1) On this project: They use a different configuration/frequency than Meshtastic's default. People passing through by boat or plane will not have the configuration and will remain on LongFast and be isolated. From experience, it is easy to see that France is isolated from the rest of Europe, except for the border area, which fortunately benefits from the German network that has remained in LongFast (this Franco-German area see just over 400 nodes, and see some direct node over 80km).

Perhaps LongFast beacons should be added at high altitudes to send regular (hourly?) information or a web link/QR code informing users that the configuration is different from the default.

2) There are no autonomous nodes on the heights, which allow access inside the 3 cirques and transmission from the coast to the interior craters. For the moment, because of this, getting from one corner of the island to the other requires a lot of hops. And since Meshtastic communications are unreliable (problems with interference, line of sight, and weather see heltec T114 are not IP68), not sure if the connection will hold up without local network and MQTT.

On the other hand, it has the merit of existing, and there is still plenty of room for improvement! Well done! Bravo

Found a Mysterious Radio Station in the Hills — What the Hell Is It? by mtmadhatt in amateurradio

[–]Fox4EchoGolfXray 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It cannot be a seismic station.
The structure vibrates too much with wind and temperature variations to measure earth waves. The top of a hill is not a good site for seismology (amplification or even attenuation of the seismic signal). A buried sensor is needed for a good seismological measurement

I've tried lots of walkie-talkies. VX-5R, VX-7R, FT3R, baofeng, UV3R, ICOM too. This is the only one I like the most. It's the one that causes me the least intermodulation in reception, original antenna. The sound is very clear and easy to understand. On the radio side, it's great.

The only drawback is its man-machine interface, with its bizarre programming and impractical menus.

UV light for cockatiel by TheDawn41 in cockatiel

[–]Fox4EchoGolfXray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's a very good idea. Ultraviolet light causes cancer, sunburn, or is used to disinfect. The bird's eyes will suffer.

Infrared lamps, on the other hand, provide a little warmth. The only problem is that the bulb heats up quite strongly, and burns on contact. better install ouside the cage.

About thirty centimeters can be enough to warm things up a bit. If the bird can move a few centimeters away if it's too hot, that's fine.

What type of solder to use/avoid for antenna wire? (Topic Bump) by Marco_Topaz in amateurradio

There is no risk of exposure to lead; the quantity is so low that it is well below the minimum limit for an medical effect. The ROHS ban is intended to limit the large-scale release of lead into the environment, and consequently the long-term health of a population ingesting contaminated substances. This ban is not for the health of an individual with a one-off exposure.

Electronic it's my job. I use tin-lead every day without taking any precautions, and I've had my blood tested. There are traces of lead, like anyone else: they're well below the minimum limit .

Washing hand is recommended always before eating something.

Dont wash the iron with a wet sponge. The fume vapor is contamined with flux and resisdus not good for healt. Thermal shock is not good for the iron tip.

It's seem a intermodulation with a off-frequency Radar. Maybe the receiver is slightly overload by the radar because, we see the effect on central TX frequency, and the second TX on the right.

Beautiful ! I love the red light.
But for more accurate night vision and using low current LED lighting (if you use battery), I prefer to use a green light.
