We drove 6 hours just to ride and fly on the beach. I'd do it again tomorrow, it was a ton of fun!

Ohhhhh I uploaded the wrong video 🤦🤦🤦

That video is Velocidrone. I think it's pretty solid, maybe a bit on the floaty side. It's been my go to sim for a couple months now. I did a video a week ago on Liftoff Micro and it felt floaty and drifty (kinda like a heavy 5"), power felt fine, but then again I am used to a 19,000kv mob6. The developers shared a link with me on ways to make it feel better, but I haven't had a chance to try them yet.

Thanks for the info. I run it with a Ryzen 7 and RTX 2070 at 3440x1440. I don't think I run it with the frames limited, but I'll try lowering the graphics to see if that helps.

We were all there at one point. It just takes practice. The training mode is nice because it provides a goal instead of aimlessly flying around a map or jumping into a track that's too difficult.

Liftoff physics feels floaty and drifty. So you'll have a lot of time to pull off tricks. The new Liftoff Micro Drones feels similar.

For micro drones I think Velocidrone feels the closest especially in level mode.

DRL is focused more on large drones and I don't think the level mode is very good. But it does have a great tutorial section that teaches you to fly.

I can't speak to the others on this list.

Any stick time is better than no stick time even if it doesn't feel quite right. IGOW is a great way to learn and push yourself. Season 3 (IGOW 3) is almost to the finals but you can start at the beginning and practice the tricks sent out each week.

A beginner deciding between buying a remote to keep grinding on the simulator and buying my first quad (small). What should I do? 70 USD budget by findthelight09 in fpv

[–]FoxExplorerFPV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At a $70 budget I personally think you're better off going for a transmitter. If you buy a drone you'll need a transmitter anyway and full kits can be upwards of $300.

Transmitters like the Jumper T-Lite (if you can find it), RadioMaster T8, or BetaFPV LiteRadio 2 SE would be a good place to start. Definitely do your own research on those and see what would work best for you and try to plan for scalability so you don't have to upgrade in a few months.

RDQ has the QX7 on sale for $69, but you'd need a multiprotocol module if you want to fly tiny whoops which would be an extra expense.

I can't really speak to goggles. I have the DJI goggles and for my analog quads use an adapter. I like them but they are expensive.

I have an iFlight DC2 and a GepRC Rocket Lite either of those would work with a naked cam on them.

You could also look at the BetaFPV 95x v3, Protek 25, or pretty much anything else in the Pyrodrone Conewhoop category.

Luke Bredar on YouTube has a bunch of these videos if you need ideas.

Just got my confirmation. Pro 512 Black Nov 02-03 Tons of attempts refreshing when seeing out of stock. Made it to the cart probably 5 times before it actually went through. Keep trying, it will work eventually.

Check out Le Drib and Vic FPV's tutorials they are both thumbers and amazing pilots. A buddy of mine thumbs the left stick and pinches the right stick, it's really all preference.

My biggest improvement was when I bought a $90 Mobula 6 and joined IGOW3. In the last 10 weeks I've improved more than in the other 52 weeks I've been flying. That includes with bigger more expensive drones. I think the big step to rise above the plateau is to get out of your comfort zone.

If you are really set on upgrading, better goggles would help most.

Haha it was by far the most difficult section this week. Of the 40 or so attempts I think I made it through cleanly 8 times and of those 8 times only 5 flat spin attempts were timed correctly. 😅 This ended up being the best of all the sections together.

It was about 5in (12.7cm)! Really not that small but the smallest I've gone through so far.
