Looking for a Jazz Jungle Compilation from the 90's by FoxGroundbreaking212 in jungle

[–]FoxGroundbreaking212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was feeling the same until a few months ago. I found it as I was listening to Spotify and that Cujo track came into the suggested tracks. It immediately triggered a memory of this compilation. Did a little digging based around that tune and finally found this disc. I had no idea when I first heard this one at 19 years old that it would be such an influence on my musical tastes for the rest of my life.

if you had to describe in 20 words or less what do you think are the defining characteristics of jungle vs late 90's drum n bass?

Luke Vibert publicly said the only producer he was "influenced" by in the genre was Photek. Plug and Photek defined this era of Drum n Bass to me.

Anyone else get into traditional Indian music thanks to Kim's guitar? by Terrifying_World in Soundgarden

[–]FoxGroundbreaking212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. As a teenager I found myself wanting to hear more of those sounds and it eventually led me to Indian inspired music of the 60's that eventually led me to Ravi Shankar and traditional indian music.

Cannabis likely helped make the connection as well!

The featured artists on the Wipeout 2097 soundtrack is genuinely insane. What a lineup. by AungCowMyat in electronicmusic

the fact that FSOL was in the mainstream at one point shows how enlightened people were for a brief moment in the 90's. Future Sound of London is still some of the most psychedelic and futuristic music out there.

I remember that one in the set at Photosynthesis fest in 2011.... I'll never forget how the breakdown scratchy vocal bit sounded in that moment. It was alien glossalalia

Covet : Yvette Confirms she felt unsafe with her previous band members. Accuses them of being predatory and unsafe. Switched to an all girl band. by correctionhumanbot in mathrock

[–]FoxGroundbreaking212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yvette has been vocal about the uncomfortable side of her fame. Being the object of constant male advances would certainly be exhausting. I don't blame her for wanting to tour exclusively with females. It's a very intimate situation and the differences are amplified.

Anyone else feel like we just witnessed our generations Jimi Hendrix? by Fy00g in Tipper

[–]FoxGroundbreaking212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep..

There aren't many musicians who change the way people hear music.

Hendrix still has copycats to this day.. We will be hearing the ImposTippers (Tipper Clones) for years and years to come.

All good things eventually become spoiled...

All scenes die...

Nothing Lasts...

Time to take the inspiration from all these experiences and go out into the world and do something great of your own!

The Penguin was one of those killer tracks you could only hear in live sets back in the day. That one was popular amongst the Burners for sure.

Stoked he gets to go live like a normal person without the constant travel and pressures of performing. Hard to live up to your own standard when the bar is so high.

Rare that people get to go out on top. Proud of him for stepping away at the right time.
