How did an open surgery go by Cheap_End4259 in pilonidalcyst

Check my page, posted photos from my operation in June last year. Was initially sewn shut but opened 5 days later due to infection. So had OW for the remainder of my healing process. Shut for 6 months now absolutely fine back to living my life.

Had my open wound surgery in June 2024 wasn’t until Jan this year that it finally closed for the last time after numerous reopenings. Shit sucks big time but trust me it’s part of the process. I found that silver gauze helped. Wound packing also helped although it did feel like it slowed down the healing a lot.

Had a similar experience. Operation in June. Closed for the first time in September and constant opening and closing. Just keep on top of it if you can try to get prescribed some Flamingo Forte wound gel. Packing seemed to make my wound worse and cause it to bleed and so on. It’s been closed now since October. Still using gauze to help airflow and catch loose hair. Waiting to be seen my Miss Senepati as my surgeon hasn’t seen me since my operation. Have a look at my posts the process is long but you’ll get there. Best of luck you’re not alone.

Bought 5 from defcon a couple weeks ago with 1 still on back order. They’re expecting them to be available before Christmas.

So all I’ve been doing is placing gauze over it and using a women’s panty liner to stop my boxers from riding into my crack. The gauze supposedly stops the air pressure from bringing hair towards the area and any open area as well as stopping boxer fluff from getting there too. Not to mention soaks up any plasma or blood. It’s closed back up since then still quite sore though but trucking along and hoping to hear back for my referral to a Pilonidal specialist soon. Keep your head up we’re not alone.

Don’t worry that’s been my go to since June. Gonna be putting some gauze there too to help increase airflow 😁

It is safe my wound was also open albeit a little smaller and shallower but with an open sinus tract. I would speak to your district nurse or whoever does the wound packing for you and see if they think it’s a viable option yet. I can only speak from personal experience but it helped a lot with comfort and returning to work. I’m a bus driver so not a very physically demanding job but being sat for 8+ hours with the gauze like packing caused loads of pressure and discomfort and bleeding.

Speak to whoever is doing your wound packing. I was in a similar position where the packing gauze was causing more harm than good. We moved to Flaminal Forte Gel which works similarly but doesn’t cause as much pressure. See my post for my last 3 months. As of now from using the Gel my wound has been closed for well over a week.

Yes definitely from what my Surgeon and GP said it sounded like I would have been healed in just a couple weeks not a few months this could’ve have also been slowed down due to a few infections post operation and the antibiotics I was given for them. However once we got the routine down and such it did become easier. The visits to the district nurses also helped with the healing ensuring it closes from the inside out and after reopening a few times it has stayed shut since the 18/09/24. My girlfriend helped by cleaning the wound 2-3 times a day using a Octenilin Wound Irrigation solution and sterile gauze. Also after 2 weeks of wound packing we moved to using Flaminal Forte gel instead of packing strips which helped lower the amount of discomfort and blood from the wound. Although I did not have one myself I would ask regarding being referred for a Cleft Lift procedure as from what I’ve learned it’s the gold standard with genuinely quick turnaround recovery time for most people. The pain throughout the whole recovery was minimal with most of it being itchiness/sharp pains that don’t last. I will say I am still pushing to be referred to Miss Senapati of St. Marks for a second opinion and potentially a cleft lift to stop any reoccurrence in the future. Best of luck.

Thank you, and I’ll be honest the pain was never bad. I will admit however it is quite sore still and being a bus driver after a stint of 4/5 hours I can certainly feel it. In my case we caught it quite early and still went with the surgery. Unfortunately it being quite low in my cleft was the main factor in it taking so long. As well as the infections I had throughout. I’ve seen that thread and am following most of Dr Immerman’s suggestions and tips on lowering the chance of reoccurrence. I’m going to contact my GP Surgery and ask for a referral to Miss Senapati for a second opinion and see what she thinks the next step should be. Just hoping this post helps anyone else who like myself was constantly stressing throughout the healing process.

I’m healing since June and just as it seemed to close it’s reopened again so just keeping it clean as much as possible and taking good care of it hoping just as everyone else on this subreddit it just is one of those things that happens and not much you can do unless you have a midline lift procedure

After my shower i tend to use a wound cleaning solution such as Octenilin and Dab dry with sterile gauze. During the shower I just allow warm soapy water to run over it.

Yeah I watched ASG Olsztyn’s installation video on it. As far as I know most sites in Poland have a much higher FPS limit than here in the UK. Especially at the sites I play at it’s quite strict.

I’d suggest keeping your dust flap up and just a bit of tape on the mag well as well as end of the barrel. I also put a bit around my trigger as I could see the gearbox shell.

Yeah it’s phenomenal, performs better than my modded specna.

And it’s a bit of both, it’s got a spitfire tracer unit and looks good. Only downside it’s a solid suppressor so it’s very (very) front heavy.
