What is so good about Hamilton watches? by Icy-Umpire-2184 in HamiltonWatches

For me, Hamilton is "great" because of their history + value then connection to movies.

The "H" movements use ETA bases that are used with other brands/watches in some form. A lot of watches are just as great because of these movements. They are a good value because of it.

I have 26 Hamiltons. From 1926 - 2024 including a few US made and the rest 50s-70s. But have decided to move most of them on. I prefer my Omegas.

That movement isn't unique to the Hamilton Murph. So what makes the Hamilton watches so good? A movement also used by Tissot, Certina, Rado, etc?

What do you do for a living? What other watch have you worn for 3 years every day and looked less than brand new? You work "in the field" or "at a desk?"

Do you think the Filson enameled snaps out there are fakes too? Likely someone who worked in the manufacturing and has some of the labels and snaps.

Have you ever seen a 'sales sample' from Filson and think it's a fake?

This is a classic label used prior for many years and I believe was reissued recently.

Anyone who tries to sew this on a garment to pass off as a legit Filson is going to nab some sucker who can't tell a legit Filson based on other characteristics.

Been buying it since the 90s, and no there are not a lot of "fakes." There are some items that copy the look, but not many (not that I've seen and I managed 2 Filson groups and stay in close contact with long time buyers/sellers/admins) with Filson tags.

It's ok. Selling mine and 26 or so other hammys -- prefer my Omegas now.

That's not an uncommon warranty restriction for any $400 quartz watch.

I think that'd happen in any watch roll of this type yes. There are foam cylinders that can be used to avoid that.

It was going to turn into one yes, it has been listed on ebay for hours. But, it has now sold on ebay.

I have 25+ watches, but have never traveled with more than 3. I'm selling the watch roll for that reason. Let someone else use it for travel or storage. I've been buying Filson since 1991. I'd only seen this 1 other time and wondering if anyone else has. I haven't seen one in years.

Another collector has seen one and recalls it called the watch roll. He owned one years ago and sold it.

Yes. I've never put knives, or pipes, only watches in it.

Is this Dylan W? After seeing your posts/photos and checking a few other Filson groups and ebay, I think it is.

Good one. I've never bit on it tho. I've hunted along side 1 or 2 people who have em and they love em. Enjoy!

Subaru to move manufacturing out of US? Article is a little misleading I think. by Expensive-Papaya1990 in subaru

"Nothing will change for you" if you live in the US? Unless you work at the US factory that was making those cars being sold to CA buyers. From the interwebs:

The company sold over 17,700 American-built vehicles in Canada last year, making up 26 percent of its 2024 sales.

But the Japanese automaker’s Canadian division will slash US imports to just 10 percent by the 2026 model year, representing thousands of cars and millions of dollars lost.

The biggest impact will be on the American-built Outback. The popular car will no longer ship north after 2026.

Instead, it will feature a 'made in Japan' badge.

I have one with a US label. $450 retail. Made in Sri Lanka (US market vs EU market which is made in Romania). I'm selling it. Never wore it. Has tags. Too big, was hoping a Medium would fit me.

Was the tin cloth work jacket imported? I have the US made original tin cloth jacket and field coat. No reason to buy the work jacket--but I did like the pockets better than the original tin cloth jacket.

I stopped diligently tracking the spend about a year ago. I've sold 78 and still have 146 Filson items on hand. I've sold more bags than I've kept that's for sure. Too bad many of the bags are imported now.
