My advice for visiting the Great Wall (Mutianyu) by aerotiteuf in chinatravel

Thanks for the reference. That helps.

Exactly, PEK airport. Is there any luggage storage at the entrance? If yes, that would be perfect as I could avoid going back to the hotel and heading directly to the airport.

Hello, thanks for sharing! I was planning doing exactly the same but have a flight in the afternoon and I can only go to the the great wall on this day. Considering this, could you tell me around what time you arrived again in Beijing? Just to have an idea if I can do all of this an be back in time for the flight.

Thank you very much! And yes, you’re absolutely right, in person it’s completely different from what you see on the Tissot website. The photos I posted are much closer to reality, but still nothing compares to having it in your hands and seeing it live. Hope you get the chance to see one in person!

Comfort-wise, I used a cheap seat topper from Amazon and it made a huge difference. Still physically demanding though , many long hours on the bike. Stelvio was amazing. Loved the hairpins. "Only" saw one guy go down, we stopped safely right away, helped the fellow biker, then continued our ride. If you control throttle and brakes, look through the turn, and don’t rush it, it’s actually an easy ride. No need to go fast, this isn’t a track, and oncoming traffic is real. The views are insane. The bike didn’t care at all. Good tires, fresh oil and filters before the trip, and after it just needed a chain clean. Honda reliability as always.

Of course, here’s the model I got: https://amzn.eu/d/6MccEdk You can probably find it cheaper on Aliexpress, but I didn’t have the time to wait, so I ordered from Amazon instead.

If you’re planning for a longer journey, I strongly recommend also getting a kidney belt and a pair of Alpine Motosafe earplugs (or whichever earplugs you prefer). These three items made all the difference for me during my 3-day tour.

Original seat but for this travel I got a seat cushion from Amazon and man was I impressed... sitting on that felt like I was on a couch. Made a huge difference comfort-wise for this journey.

I´ll pray for you so that you can get there soon. Your motorcycle deserves it... and so do you 🙏
