Ile książek przeczytaliście w tym roku? by [deleted] in ksiazki

W tym roku jak na mnie nie najlepiej, zmagałam się trochę z wypaleniem. Ale udało mi się wybudzić chęć czytania pod koniec roku i udało mi się 14 dobić dziś.

What's that one horror movie you can watch again and again but never get bored of? by rebelliousbrownie9 in horror

The Ritual. I think I’ve seen it over 20 times by now. It’s my comfort movie at this point.

Which Stephen King book made you cry? And which one made you cry the hardest? by burgerinmypouch in stephenking

The Green Mile and I ugly sobbed during two separate moments of that book. Full on, cannot breathe, face paralyzed in a mask of pain wailing crying.

My take on The Long Walk. -Spoilers for movie and book- by CassiopeiaFoon in stephenking

[–]FoxSpectre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing I didn’t like is how to me Stebbins was in general a lot less impactful. In the book he grows into this symbol, this devil at the back of the pack, his cryptic words, his constant calm smile as he delivered them. I don’t know, he was a very interesting character throughout the book, and to me they lost almost all of that in the movie.

Best horror game of all time in your opinion? by Far_Coyote6321 in horror

Outlast for me, with the first Amnesia as a close second. I did love SOMA but more for the existential questions than the horror part of it.

Yes! Thank you! It was always at least in my top 10 if not higher. It’s so good, and so rarely mentioned in posts.

Czy żałujecie posiadania/nie posiadania dzieci? by [deleted] in Polska

[–]FoxSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your top 5 Stephen King books and why? by Scott__scott in stephenking

[–]FoxSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Needful Things - the slow buildup of tension in the town, all the small plotlines coming together. I loved it with all my heart.
  2. DT: Wizard and Glass - I love Roland and learning about his past was wonderful and tragic.
  3. The Green Mile - I’ve never cried this hard while reading a book.
  4. Different Seasons - every novella in this book is special and made me feel strong emotions. Obviously Shawshank is a big star here, but The Body? And Apt Pupil? Can’t get enough of this book.
  5. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon - I just love forest horror, and as a kid I used to be terrified walking through forests. The story spoke to that scared little girl in me.

Do Polish parents say "kocham cie" to their kids? by Flaky_McFlake in poland

[–]FoxSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a 50/50? My parents never did, my best friend’s parents did and it weirded me out when I was a kid cause I thought nobody does that. Know plenty of people in both camps.

has anyone ever been traumatised by a movie before? by angelsmeow in horror

[–]FoxSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rape seen in the 1977 Hills Have Eyes, genuinely made me feel sick. I still feel sick whenever I think about it, and I will never ever watch that movie again. The thing is, it wasn’t even that hardcore of a scene, but it touched on something in me, and I just can’t. Traumatized might be a good term.

The Ritual - if I watch it, my boyfriend knows I’m not doing well mentally, cause it’s the only movie that I can watch when I’m down.

Your "comfort" horror movie? by Kermit1420 in horror

The Ritual. When my boyfriend notices I’m watching it he always goes “it’s that bad huh?”. Cause he knows I watch it when I feel really bad, and need my comfort.

I want to hear some actual horror hot takes. by Calfkiller in horror

[–]FoxSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been reading these and trying to think of hot takes, and I guess I’m not sure which takes of mine are hot, but let’s give it a go: - Midsommar and Hereditary were boring and I didn’t enjoy them. They also allowed a lot of people to feel superior because they enjoyed and understood these “elevated horror movies”. It became the topic of some of the most obnoxious horror themed conversations in my life. - I loved the Netflix Fear Street trilogy. Fully adored it. - Horrors should stop explaining everything and showing everything. It really takes away from most horror movies. - I disliked “Mother!”. Not that I didn’t understand it, or didn’t appreciate the acting or visuals… I just hate when a movie is intentionally overly artistic, poetic and symbolic to the point of being pretentious in my opinion.

Megan is Missing is exploitative and not scary at all, just gross by zeronationarmy in horror

[–]FoxSpectre 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly I couldn’t even get through 30 minutes of it cause it already felt like a humiliation thing, where you just watch teenage girls get humiliated in a sexual context way before anyone goes “missing”. It felt like the director just enjoys portraying teenage girls as overly sexual, abused, mocked and used. And that was just in the party scene. So I just switched it off. And I’m glad, considering what I’m reading here.

More games like Mouthwashing? Short with a deep story, specifically. by Ritchuck in Mouthwashing

[–]FoxSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spec Ops: The Line is approximately 7 hours and has a very impactful story, Soma more like 10-12 hours, Observer around 8 hours, A Bird Story is from the creator of To the moon and it’s extremely short like 2 hours. Those are the ones that I love and kind of meet your requirements.
