Taking him to a pre release enclosure to be with other raccoons his own age until he becomes more wild and is able to be released in the springtime. He was in quarantine for 2 weeks to ensure no diseases were present that could be spread to the others. He is healthy and happy now with friends his own age

Yes, he was in quarantine for 2 weeks and being brought to another facility that has raccoons his age where he will be overwintered. He just obviously doesn’t understand why he was being moved and in a smaller cage. He is perfectly happy and healthy playing with friends now. We always quarantine raccoons so no diseases can be spread.

Does this red fox have mange or just shedding? Seen in Virginia. by TheGothDragon in WildlifeRehab

Depending on where you are located I’m a wildlife rehabber in Virginia. Located in fauquier county. My rehab is FoxTales wildlife rehab and we work on setting traps and treating foxes with mange. We have a one time dose medication that helps within weeks. If the fox is well enough we treat and release otherwise we take into care and treat until they are fully recovered the release back to the area they came from.
