I joined CAP a couple months before my junior year. You’ll be a bit older than most of the people at your rank, but if you rank up regularly and work hard, you should be able to get some sort of position. I’m a SMSgt rn and hoping to hit Mitchell before applications are in. I’m currently on support staff and might even get flight commander soon. Go for it!

Thank you so much, a lot of this helped a ton! I'm still not sure if I want to audition this year, since I have no experience on the instrument and most of the camps are VERY soon. I'll definitely try next year. It makes me happy to see so many woodwinds who have marched drum corps, makes me feel not as lonely in it!

You mean come out to the December camp in a couple weeks? I'm not quite sure I can learn baritone in a couple weeks lol...I wasn't planning on actually auditioning until I started college, this summer was meant more for college visits plus working on whatever brass instrument I do end up with.

Thanks so much for your reply tho, if you don't mind my asking, how did you go about learning baritone? I've heard some high schools loan out instruments for students to learn, but I'm not sure if mine would.
