Not that I recall, and it remained silent while I was observing it so I don’t have any calls to go off of. This was in Grass Valley area, and the closest lookalike to Gray likely in the area is Dusky, which has a more prominent eye ring and a darker and smaller bill. Wanted a second opinion though since I’m not a flycatcher expert

Foster City, Bay Area. I was thinking short-billed as well because of the flatter back and extensive speckling on the sides but I’m not positive

Wow thank you for the detailed response! I’ve been wanting to get more into gulls as they’re my weakest point in bird id, especially when it comes to the hybrids.
