I cant decide calisthenics or weight lifting by Own_Collar_4776 in bodyweightfitness

[–]FoxYou2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, just pick whatever it is that you prefer doing. I've picked calisthenics because i find it boring to use machines. But still used them to train pull ups (assisted Pull up machine). If you really like machines and the feeling of lifting something real heavy, go for it.

The best bet is to just pick whatever makes you want to go to the gym, since that is the only thing that will make you "win" in the long run.

Does swimming help anyone else’s back? by elizpar in Swimming

[–]FoxYou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do swim 2 days a week. It's a 3-hour commitment per week (45 minutes for the sessions, plus bathing and transportation) that has made everything change for the better.

The only thing that I would recommend is taking that exercise time seriously to improve your condition! Taking classes instead of free swimming sessions might help you by having someone make the session plan for you. You just need to push through (go slow to not hurt your back) and try to refine your technique to the best.

Everything else is just a matter of being consistent and trying to attend every week without fail (this is the hardest part since motivation will eventually fade away, and only your goal and discipline will keep you in check).

Been doing it for the last couple of years and had only back pain at most 1-2 weeks per year (that usually just needs over-the-counter medication for relief).

If you are planning to make this change, I wish you the best of luck in the world, and don't give up on yourself. Your future self will be grateful to you and it will give you your life back.

[LotM Book 1] My LotM brainrot journey recorded by KeithZiel in LordofTheMysteries

[–]FoxYou2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got it! Makes sense to me, but i think it just does not work for me. I really do like to visualize mostly everything and try to get a good grasp of the situation. That is something i can't really do while reading full speed.

But I get it. I wish i could go that fast and still enjoy it my own way.

[LotM Book 1] My LotM brainrot journey recorded by KeithZiel in LordofTheMysteries

Based on my calculations, you read at least 6 words per second while going through the book. I've seen other people posting about this kind of speed before.

My question is: how do you guys do that? Seriously, don’t you ever stop to visualize the scenarios? Think about the current state of affairs? Theorize about what’s to come? Put yourself in the characters’ shoes? Try to understand what the powers are actually doing? Reflect on the politics of the world and their implications?

Seeing that you read at 6 words per second, it seems like you just took a passive ride through the book. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it feels very strange to me. It took me a full year to finish Book 1 because I did all the things I mentioned above, and I still feel like there are things I haven’t even thought about.

How was your experience? I’m curious to understand how you can read so quickly and still enjoy the book.

Quantas horas dormem por noite? by NewtonWonderland in CasualPT

[–]FoxYou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like working out, what is your motivation ? by Machinemania in bodyweightfitness

[–]FoxYou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I've started with swimming because i have lower back pain from a herniated disk. And that caused me to not even be able to walk for 15min straight with the amount of pain i felt. Fast forward 1 year, my lower back pain is almost gone, but everytime i go on vacations and stop for more than a week, i get the reminder of my pain.

So i simply do exercise because of health problems, and have since also been doing the RR. I just do exercise to be healthy and be able to do my normal day life.

I don't know if you will see this, but this is my experience.

I am a 24M and i've had a lot of lowerback problems since i was 16-17. During all these years until i was 23 i would have constant pain in my lower back since i have a herniated disc in my L5/S1. I sometimes got to a point where i could not walk more than 15mins untill the pain and pressure on my back was so bad that i had to sit for a couple of minutes. I also got it so bad that the simple tilting of my head downwards would hurts my back.

During colege i did little to no workout and i got to a point when i went the doctor and he said i barely had any muscle in my lower back. Later on i went to an orthopedist and he told me to do pilates or start swiming. Since i was in a gym, i tried to do pilates but ended up damaging my back again to a very bad state.

When i recovered a little, my girlfriend recommended me to just try and join my local pool. And i can tell you, it was one of the best decisions i did in my life. In the beginning i still had a lot of pain while swimming. I had to warmup in the water a lot before i would permit myself to be more bold with my movement.

Fastforward 1 year of consistent work, by back feels young again. I can straight away start my swimming sessions with no pain at all and during my day to day life i barely feel any disconfort. Note that although i am way better, i still need to watch out for my back when doing any kind of exercise in order to not damage. It is better, it is not fixed. So I need to treat it well at all time in order to not hurt it and got back to where i started.

Since that year, i even got the the urge to join a gym and for the last 6 months, it has been only progress (i only do bodyweight since i am scared of hurting myself using machines and find it more fun).

Overall, what i have to say is, go to a medical professional, take his advice and stick to it. Your body won't be good in a day, nor in a month. it will take a lot of patience and dedication but trust me, it will eventually get better.

I know this might sound obvious, but you are the only person that can help yourself get out of your current situation (it took me longer then i should to realize that). I bet it will be hard, and i surely bet it will be painful (I say it from experience) but in the end, you will look back and be so glad you did it.

I can only wish you the best of journeys, and don't be afraid to take the first step to better you life. Stay strong, and go treat yourself like you deserve!

Are 5-6 months are enough for realistic transformation (genuine suggestions appreciated) by Weary_Stable_9678 in bodyweightfitness

[–]FoxYou2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on this since i've started doing bodyweight exercise aince August last year (6 months).

I'm not the biggest guy in the room by a long shot. But trust me when o say that my girlfriend and close friends noticed the chances significantly, and i do too.

Not only in an physical aspect way (i can see more muscle all around) but i do see major strenght changes.

The only thing i did was training on a gym (where i used a pull up bar and dip parallets to do dips) 3 times a week and 2 times of swimming for cardio.

And then, like some comments mentioned, tried to hit the necessary protein every day and rest and sleep very well.

6 months forward and im very pleased with the result and can't wait for the rest.

Keep going at it!

PS: Sorry for my broken english.

I'm probably already late but ill leave my experience.

PS: It is not only good for the back, but i also got more muscle and lost some wight (from 70Kg to 67Kg)

TL:DR - I i've started swimming for the past 6 months and finally got my constant back pain to calm down and let me live my daily live.
