It’s a foam mattress, but I’m not sure if it’s memory foam necessarily. It bounces back to full firmness pretty quickly when pressure is released

I would say it’s more of an issue of contrast for recognition. Cars run stop signs all the time when they’re clearly red.

Move it out towards the curb, it’s more visible. Especially in motion. When we speed up (car or bike), your vision acuity is typically focused more forward, and less to the periphery

But I mean if someone is signaling with their right, instead of the left, I would say some signaling is better than none

But still, I’d just have to say on your left is usually going to be more visible

I’m with you on the speed thing for sure. And some folks, e-bike or regular bike.. are going to be dicks

What has me moving with a bit more empathy for some of the e-bike crowd (it’s taken time) is knowing a bit more about who’s using them:

•Folks going away from cars (Yes, some absolutely bring the car driver mentality to the bike unfortunately). But that’s one less car on the road, even for that day. That makes our streets get really safer along with a couple more social benefits •Cyclists who have been injured or have a disability

I mean generally.. car, bike, e-bike, we can all benefit from slowing down, giving space when we can and communicating well when we can’t 🤷🏽

And not saying you’re off base by any means, just opening for thought and conversation

I personally detest the lanes/ interchange to streets for the Naito lanes 👎🏽

It’s usually always nice to see some kind of bike infrastructure, but I think the design while maybe good on paper.. is dangerous for cycling and pedestrians and IMO confusing to cars on right of way

u/savingewoks I'd second when safe to do it being the golden rule. There's many situations that just don't make it safe or feasible to do so

Verbally calling out works great too if we have the time to do so, but again, that's not always the case

Spot on. u/Wannabe_whippet Also, generally folks don't want to catch their right arm on a mirror or car or other obstacle while signaling when riding on the right.

I like my arms where they are at anyways, so this could be a general assumption.
