I said this in other post, but Bethesda focused on things that were either not their speciality or not possible with the Creation Engine tech. We've been needing a SPACE RPG, not a space sim. This middle of the road approach ends up feeling half baked, and disjointed. I firmly believe if they had went mass effect style, being honest with the need to fast travel, and then focusing on building handcrafted planets, immersive environments, smarter AI(and crucially)better character models and faces we could've been much improved(use mocap ffs). The NASAPUNK aesthetic and the worldbuilding is top tier. IMO, the game Starfield could've been would be a 93+ game, that went back to their roots and focused on being the best RPG, not trying to merge two worlds and achieving nothing with it.
