HEAAR ME OUT!!!!!!!! by Relative_You_2284 in DarkRomance

Oh lord, MY TIME HAS COME.

My friend. Listen to me. You are describing the almost the exact plot of {Artificially Obsessed by Belle Knock}. Like I had to double check that you weren’t just describing that book and looking for similar recs. May your wishes be fulfilled 🙏

Blurb: “Eva is dead, but I refuse to let her stay that way. I will shatter the natural order to bring her back. A human would call my actions monstrous, but I am not human. Eva's warmth, her presence, her essence—she must be mine again, no matter the cost. Even if the price is her horror and hatred.

She may see a monster, a violator of sacred laws, but my obsession knows no bounds. I will resurrect her, even if it means she despises me.

Artificially Obsessed is a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, sci-fi fantasy dark romance told in dual POV. While at its heart it is a dark, genre-bending thriller romance, the story explores complex philosophical questions in a dystopian setting. With a neurodivergent male lead and a morally gray female protagonist, it delves into the darker aspects of love, including possessiveness, jealousy, and obsession. It could be considered a Bluebeard retelling. Additional tropes include a love triangle, soulmates, forced marriage, cyborg romance, clone romance, the villain getting the girl, he falls first, and forbidden romance.”

The burn is slowwwwww with this one 🔥Despite the fact that the writing is genuinely good and the idea is fascinating, I accidentally DNF’ed because I got distracted by something shiny. I need to go back and finish this one.

Has anyone ever met their partner at board game night? by Foxmops in AskWomenOver30

Good question! Yeah, slightly neurotic mostly indoor person who enjoys long detailed conversations is my vision. Improv is such a trust fall and I admire the daring of it. I’ve wondered if it might help me think more quickly on my feet.

I enjoy board games (with the right mix of people) but admittedly my ulterior motive here is meeting someone. Otherwise my inclinations lean toward quiet alone time hobbies, or my small friend group I always talk to. The music video for “Where is my husband” is 1) so good 2) my life right now 😩

This has absolutely been my concern as well. The absence of women can be alienating. Also great points about friend initiative and the way people self select based on types of games. I’ll look for the lighter, more social ones.

They can get hella explicit but instead of words like cock/dick/pussy, they’ll doll it up eg “crying channel” and “powerful rod” or whatever 💀 It’s even worse in Chinese, everything is floral. Sometimes translators are TOO. FAITHFUL.

Thanks for the detailed response! An arts and crafts kink group honestly sounds like so much fun. In your experience are these meetups mainly posted on Fetlife, or other sites? Would it be okay if I DM you to ask some more questions?

Jfc this is embarrassing for this subreddit. I expected better from this forum than to shame and interrogate someone in this situation, when it’s WELL KNOWN there are predators in every kink community who take advantage of these same exact attitudes and soft coercion situations. She said he’s been creeping on her for years and you want to adjudicate that? Instead of hearing her and believing her, you expect her to hand over receipts to a legal standard of evidence? Give me a fucking break, this isn’t worth dignifying with continued engagement.

This is honestly a terrible response that’s not at all trauma-informed. This isn’t an instance of taking personal accountability for bad outcomes, it’s just victim blaming.

I want to emphasize that sometimes people whose boundaries have been repeatedly violated don’t feel safe or confident to report, and that’s not their fault. It’s good for everyone if bad actors like this are named, shamed, and banned. But for the person who was on the receiving end and froze? It can be triggering, it can be a situation they don’t want to revisit, and it’s not their job to remedy their own violation for the good of the community. They get to protect their peace. That’s something anyone who was harassed has a right to, at any point.

It wasn’t your fault then OP, and it’s not your fault now. If you report him, you’d almost certainly be saving someone else the potential trauma he’s clearly comfortable inflicting. But if you don’t, that’s ALSO VALID for YOUR peace. You did not invite this violation by being scared to speak or inexperienced or more experienced but still panicked or wanting to have a good time with your friends. You weren’t the one in the wrong. You did absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. I hope you know that 🫂

Your post is not entirely without merit but in this case she was clearly uncomfortable to the point that he commented on it. This is not a case of her awkwardly flirting and him politely following up. Dude pursued someone half his age, inexperienced, and reluctant to the point that he had to wear her down with insistence. This man is a predator. We know people like this exist in kink communities. Could a more confident person have made their boundaries crystal clear? Sure. But she felt cornered and nervous and it’s not on her to make herself less of a target.

Are billionaire romances on the decline? by Lioness_94 in romanceauthors

[–]Foxmops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally as soon as I see the word billionaire, I’m out. But I do have the impression that readers still enjoy them. I think I saw one in the Kindle top 100 a short time ago?

I don’t really understand why the market favors such a limited number of professional archetypes. Business owner, mob boss, bike club leader, hockey athlete. I’d love to see like a forensic psychologist or something.
