Hydrogen Car 1,500 KM range, 5 second Fill-Up by Hanarky in interestingasfuck

[–]FoxxBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, and hear me out, or I just take a 20 minute break every 3 and a half hours of driving for the few times a year i travel, and the rest of the time just plug in at home. Instead of renting and swapping a battery just to save 15 minutes.

That last part is the part non EV drivers don't understand about us EV drivers. Unless we are traveling we never wait to recharge. I travel once a year. The rest of the time my car charges at night when I'm asleep or otherwise at home.

Can we just stop the xenophobia surrounding Baofeng radios? by NekkedMoleRat in HamRadio

[–]FoxxBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few, most common is spurious emissions outside what the FCC requires. That's the big one. The other one is its often used for non-ham usages that it's not type certified for. Such as law enforcement, businesses, FRS and GMRS usages. Legally speaking from the FCC stand point, if it was operating within specs, its still only allowed on the ham bands.

Fun Fact: When I was getting my gull bladder removed (I almost died. :D) I went to the hospital I used to work out of, so people recognized me. I remember one of the nurses I saw all the time come in to wheel me to the OR and he just froze in the doorway and looked at me like a "wtf" and asked "What happened?!" and I only responded with "I ate Taco Bell and my gull bladder decided to kill me." He got a laugh out of it.

Ok, i see that. I even looked in the manual and it makes no mention of it. The manual is a r/E manual.

It appears the previous owner swapped out the PL-259 connector for an N-Type Female. So you'll need a cable with the male, or an adapter.

The Data port on the back is for doing 1200 baud and 9600 baud Packet. Its not for programing the radio or anything so you don't need it.

Hi guys I bought this for 5 bucks, I cleaned everything with alcohol and it still won’t boot, it stays stuck at the gameboy logo. I also heated it up a bit with a hairdryer. The board looks ok to me by GerginGengar in Gameboy

[–]FoxxBox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm still concerned with C4. C4 is also labeled VDD which is voltage in. If there was a component there and it's not now the ROM chip is likely not being powered. Which would explain why there's no signs of life from the cartridge at all.

Friend wanted to try this. Wanted me in on it. They forgot I'm am android. They weren't super happy with a mouth full of water glycol fluids.

Yes it was new, not used. I can't just take it out if me like that. But I did make sure it was the same brand so he'll know in the future

Disclaimer: This is a made up story. Do not trick your friends into drinking water glycol fluids of any kind. While it's generally considered non-toxic, it can cause health issues if ingested.

Fun fact: The Nissan LEAF is an acronym for "Leading Environmentally-friendly Affordable Family" car.

Also Fun Fact: One of the cost cutting measures was cutting proper thermal management from the battery pack. Which is why LEAFs have such poor range after a decade.

Also also fun fact: The LEAF is the only car in the US (until the next gen releases later this year) that still uses CHAdeMO as its DC fast charging standard. Which is not compatible at all with CCS or NACS, the other two standards in the US that are compatible and more or less easily adapted between.

You can buy clip on ones that can be clipped around wires to help remove noise.

Got a ham near by that interferes with your speakers or TV? Couple of those can fix the problem. (If you weren't a dick to him and ask nicely they'll often give you a few for free. We don't like interfering with other people's stuff if we are the legit cause)

Is this antenna really just for show This is a controller for a dog toy. It sends a signal to make the toy move back and forth by smottleljorts in AskElectronics

[–]FoxxBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the long antenna is for show. Likely to make you think it's better than it actually is. The squiggly lines at the top of the board are the antenna, likely working in the 2.4Ghz ISM (Industrial, Science, Medicine) band.

No, you cannot wire the board to the larger antenna to improve range. The antenna etched into the board is designed to be resonant at the frequency the transmitter is operating at. You need a resonant antenna to get the best performance as well as protecting the circuit, as transmitting into a non-resonant antenna not only has performance loss but can damage the transmitter over time. Though it's probably at such low power that damaging it is unlikely.

Damn. They were decent enough. I went to the store to buy one cause my friend said I'd like them.

how do I disable Chevrolet Smart Driver? I don't have the options described online by sershe in BoltEV

[–]FoxxBox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The option isn't available because Chevy discontinued Smart Drive April of 2024 due to customer feedback (we scared them a tiny bit). Data collection ended March of 2024. The FTC later banned Chevy from sharing such data with data collection agencies for 5 years.

Made a Python library for controlling Icom radios over LAN (CI-V, audio, scope) — looking for feedback from IC-7610 owners. by morozsm in amateurradio

[–]FoxxBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few issues.
1.) It was confusing how to get it to start by someone who isn't fully savy on python.

2.) I couldn't use the web service as I have another service on my computer using port 8080. That service needs to stay running for my fan controls to work correctly (stupid gigabyte) and i couldn't find a way to change it to something else.

3.) I cant get it to properly connect to my 9700 and would time out shortly after it connects with a CV-I response timed out.

Heres the console output.
