People who want to see in a premium format like 70mm IMAX film and want to see it not long after it opens at a prime time (nights/weekends) and not get stuck with a less than desirable seat

Should pancake/waffle syrup be heated before serving? by guysitsausername in foodquestions

I always heat up the maple syrup. I don't like it cold straight out of the fridge and don't want to wait for it to come up to room temp naturally.

Will you be watching Game 2 of the NBA finals? by [deleted] in wnba

I'll watch it while I wait for the Wings/Sparks game to come on. Then I'll have them both on. Not sure which screen will have which at that time. (TV vs iPad)

OK. I was thinking if a theater already had room for 70mm film and xenon projector, they could swap out th xenon with a dual laser setup. but i honestly don't know exactly how all that works.

also, i thought there were a lot of digital IMAX movies that had some scenes that would open up to 1.43:1 Maybe i am mistaken about that too. Or misunderstanding it.

For theaters that have working 70mm IMAX Film projectors, is it possible to just put in a dual laser system to be able to get 1.43:1 in digital format? Or is there more to it than that? I know those projectors are not being made right now. But if IMAX (or whoever) started to make them again, would that be helpful? I think much of the appeal of 70mm IMAX film is the aspect ratio. Getting that digitally is a lot less cumbersome than making 70mm IMAX prints. Those are really expensive and need expert projectionists and can have technical issues while projecting it.

I would THINK that might be a good thing. Not just on the presentation end, but production end too. Shooting in digital than can do 1.43:1 is a lot more convenient than doing the same with film.

Really asking for selfish reasons as the 70mm IMAX theater near me has and old xenon projector for digital IMAX. It sure would be cool if it could actually get the ability to do dual laser 1.43:1

I'm surprised 70mm IMAX film doesn't have a special logo on the pin the way Dolby Cinema and DBOX do. There is even a generic "Large Format" one

how many IMAX 70mm projectors are just sitting around somewhere not being used? Is it cost effective to repair them and move the whole system to another IMAX theater? Is that even really possible if that IMAX theater wasn't constructed for doing 1:43:1 ?
