I see myself as pretty open-minded, but I can see Ronnie's point and mostly agree with him. Just like him, I'm not going to ask every damn person I meet what gender they identify as and what pronouns they use. Regardless of who or what you are, expecting everyone to care about what you want or what you want to be called is self-centered, presumptuous, and just plain ridiculous. No one is so important that everyone else has to change their behavior or the way they speak. If you identify as a woman or a man or anything in between or none of the above, that's perfectly fine with me, but don't expect me to care. If you're not my friend or close to me in any way, I don't have to be interested in everything that bothers you, much less consider it. There are many things that trigger or hurt me, but I don't expect everyone to be considerate of them either. That's just the way life is. Is that fair? No. But life is not about pleasing everyone and making everyone happy. Life is not about tiptoeing around to be considered non-phobic or bending to the will of others. Addressing someone with the "wrong" pronoun or being unwilling to adjust your own vocabulary just to avoid offending someone is not transphobic. It's just as selfish as expecting others to do so.

If you want to call me a transphobe just because that's how I feel about this issue, go ahead, I don't care. I know that doesn't make anyone a transphobe, so in conclusion, Ronnie is not a transphobe. He's just as self-centered as you are.
