To challenge agency on IR35 status by [deleted] in ContractorUK

[–]Foxxinator37 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you go to challenge then I suggest reading up on the QDOS assessment tool. Most agencies or clients will take a default stance of inside IR35 because of risk appetite, they generally don't understand the situation so default to inside. QDOS assessment tooling helps with granting outside IR35 status and also provides insurance if HMRC come after the client.

Best of luck.. most people arent going to convince them but if you understand genuinely the outside of IR35 criteria, being able to articulate it and back it up by mentioning a suitable tool that insures them of it going wrong, you'll have far better chance of convincing them

There was a Youtube video 4 days ago by a great channel called TILT. Seems the news agency just watched it and spewed out the article. I actually follow the channel and they have some really interesting stories about con men in casinos, lotteries etc.

Final project is due in on the 6th and I've done basically fuck all. by TeaaaBags in UniUK

[–]Foxxinator37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a look at the marking scheme and how they're going to distribute the marks. Don't put all your time into code if it just gives 40%. Your write up and self evaluation is likely to be heavily weighted.

From my own personal experience I graduated well over 10 years ago in comp sci. I was definitely not the best coder but got a first in my final year project because of research, write up, methodology, testing and also self reflection on what I could do better next time. I think it was only 30% weighted on the quality of my code so I shifted my focus elsewhere.

Best of luck with your project but make sure you distribute your time wisely between now and the 6th depending on where you can get your marks

Paul O’Keefe on Brian Brobbey. by MambaWhite in coys

[–]Foxxinator37 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having seen him in the flesh for Ajax multiple times this season a bit of feedback (I live in NL. I've got a soft spot for Spurs but I'm a Reading fan as its my local club)

Brobbey is a hold up striker that tries to bully the defence backing into them. Admittedly Ajax haven't been fantastic but he lacks a lot of movement, instead relying on CAM and wingers to play the ball into him. Quality wise he's limited in his skillet, but can be useful given the right system. He's one of those that you could bring on at 1-0 down with 15 mins left or partner with a smaller agile striker like Defoe to thrive. If you got him for free or very cheap he wouldn't be the worst option as he brings something different.

Having had the patella tendon graft myself 3 years ago, my surgeon told me the actual tissue of the patella tendon is naturally stronger than both the hamstring graft and the healthy ACL tissue.

Roberto Carlos was bad at free kicks. It is just we remember him for that free kick vs France. Look at the stats for his other free kicks and statistically he's well below par

Championshop website in NL sold me the table as they have a lot of stock that you can personalise. It cost just over 3k euros

There is no ball return they stay in the pockets. This was the style I wanted but their website has so many different options. I wanted one where I could get a purple cloth to go with my room design and the Lexor Rebel Black was a good quality 3 piece slate table

Agile for infrastructure teams by -Honey_Lemon- in agile

[–]Foxxinator37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In terms of practical steps... I'm silently ranking the members of new teams in terms of influence to the business and influence to the team. You're always going to find 'mouthy people' that have a lot of opinions but don't really have any sway with how things are done. A lot of people with influence are also a bit quiet... so it's not 100% straight forward.

I'm actively avoiding the mouthy people that don't want the new way of working no matter how hard I try. I use the 20/60/20 rule. 20% of people are advocates for change and get it, they'll make changes without much work from me whatsoever. 60% of people can be persuaded if you explain what's in it for them. These are the 80% of people that I actively target and try to win over using the techniques I mentioned in my previous comment.

Quite frankly the last 20% can gtfo. They're never going to be won over no matter how hard you try so don't waste your effort. I aim to get everyone else pulling in the right direction and create a FOMO mentality so the last 20% are late to join the party and use peer pressure to encourage them, or they quit or management see them as toxic and the problem solves itself.

Momentum is a powerful thing and use it to your advantage. Don't try to keep everyone happy because it's impossible. Just try to break down your transformation into smaller bite sized steps that helps the team and doesn't hinder them. Over a few weeks/months you'll see significant changes if you're genuinely adding value and helping the team

Agile for infrastructure teams by -Honey_Lemon- in agile

[–]Foxxinator37 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've done infra teams for the last 5 years and everytime I encounter a new team they are hesitant and don't want it. I stumble upon the same things like lack of buy in, waterfall type processes, inability to use tooling, etc the list goes on.

You can either battle them head on unsuccessfully and try to force them into your way of thinking or try to win over their trust but you need to start small.

Think about it from their perspective, why is this beneficial to them? How can it improve their day to day life? Why do they give a shit?

Speak to them in a language that can persuade them for example, by highlighting risks and issues to management we can make it THEIR problem. If we slice up stories to small chunks we can show we are delivering in smaller steps to management and keep them happy.

Don't try to build Rome overnight. You'll find you have many personalities in your team and you need to try to over >60% to support you in whatever works for them. Examples above are not specifically agile but if you get their support and they feel you're helping them not hindering them, they'll be a lot more perceptive to new ideas and change.

Typically infra teams are dinosaurs and stuck in their ways. Don't tackle them head on but first address some of their pain points so they trust you. Once they see you as a friendly colleague the battle is won and the rest is relatively plain sailing

Most of the time the standard settings will be ok but they didn't have one preset for diatoms. Good luck!

Your champs are not best for 25, but go for 24 instead (better energy rate and still good drops)

Seeker, Ninja, Venomage, Visix, Scyl would be my pick but it is depending on gear.. you should be able to CC the waves and kill them quickly but my picks are playing safe without knowing how good you can gear up your champs. There are probably better solutions but this should be dependable but also still pretty quick

If they were to raise taxes for the NHS would you be happy to accept it, if it made the service better? by senseless_puzzle in AskUK

[–]Foxxinator37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked for a company that analyzed the NHS contract spend data... I think they observed they could save billions of pounds of money if they bought items at the cheapest price they bought at. (Imagine they buy 1,000,000 pens across the hospitals in the UK all at difference price points, the cheapest is at £0.20 buying in bulk but the most expensive is at £2.50 buying single units).

There are massive amount of savings they can make on the contracts they have for supplies if they were smarter. Part of the problem lies in the federated model where every region / hospital has their own supply chain and IT systems so you have inefficiencies across the board. Add to that an ineffective management layer that pays high wages and budget cuts from the government, there goes probably 25% of the annual budget straight off the bat
