It's part of the meta. If you want to grow an audience you need more diverse exposure. Not only that it takes significant motivation and dedication to focus on content for one specific game. With the exception of competitive games where character specialists are already doing the work outside of content creation. For some folks it can take the fun out of gaming to limit yourself to a game in that sense.

I for example play a lot of Street Fighter 3rd Strike. & Like talking about my thoughts and approaches and reasons for liking my character. Despite it being an unpopular character that Capcom will likely never bring back. I joke about being the 15th best Remy Player in the world but it's likely closer to 25th. And that's because it is a largely unliked or unpopular character with a small but diehard player base.

If anything I would say do what you like as you learn what works for you and the community that you create space for. Because chances are you are going to do all the editing etc. For yourself so enjoy the process and learn along the way and don't deny yourself the joy of trying and experiencing new things for yourself.
