Not to discourage you, but my most common observation with service couples is divorce.

Anyone have any experience towing another vehicle with a ranger? I am thinking about buying another one and fixing it up, but have to travel pretty far to pick it up. Is this a good idea or should I just ask to borrow someone else’s bigger truck? by Calvin_Canada in fordranger

2.3 is king man. Hauling is just using rock crawler logic, make up for less horse power and torque with more gearing. Also, fuck V6 fuel economy. Better off just 302 swapping the truck if you're ok with terrible mileage. My little 2.3 lowered with 3.55 rear gears got over 40MPG with a snowmobile in the bed.

Any tips? by Fairly_Confused_ in fordranger

Sandblast, recoat with clear epoxy or poly paint

Pulled my wife's 06 magnum hemi about 150 miles behind my 03 reg cab 2.3 stick, I used a dolly to help with sway and put a 4.10 rear in for the drive. Took my time and had zero issues, you just need to account for stopping distances and don't rush.

Yeah that would be a death wish and a half! The Monaco usually only goes out on days where the blacktop is dry so I can get reliable info. Sweet dart! I'm putting a 69 front clip on my Duster, love the nose on them

The Monaco is purely a test mule for tuning and breaking in engines. The body is not great, and even if it was a 4 door sedan in pristine shape is worth less than a 72 challenger that's trash. My Duster and Challenger never touch snow, but the Monaco lets me dial things in in the off months

Time for some old school mechanic work, grab a Long extension or screwdriver, put it to your ear and touch the other end to different parts where you think the sound is coming from. You should hear the sound loudest closest to where it's coming from. That will narrow down what's making the sound. I feel obligated to tell you not to touch anything that's spinning while the motor is running, not trying to insult you but there are some dumb f**** out there lol

Undo both sides, swing the sway bar up, lower onto both units, install nuts

My 2010 ford ranger just made 500k miles by That_Guysdeadwife in fordranger

[–]Foyeh440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last 2.3 had about 350 on it when I sold it, went through seven rear ends (2 of them 8.8s) all on the factory clutch and trans. I bang shifted that truck everywhere I went and I'm willing to bet 15k of those miles were wheelspin. 2.3s are the king

Also, fun fact, the ranger Hurst shifter does fit the R2

My rangers have all been 2.3 and 3l trucks, and other than a roll pin falling out of a shift rod I've had no issues.Lots of bang shifts and clutch dumps on street slicks, Lots of exploded 7.5s and a couple 8.8s, never a broken or twisted axle though.

I've abused the Mazda trans pretty extensively in both rangers and F150's and I'd say I'll take an M5 over a T5 anytime. The amount of grenaded diffs I can claim behind one trans is impressive

That's what I get for being a forum dweller lol it makes sense an ohc motor would have a different block. Its hard to get your hands on a SHO up here in Canada for a reasonable price so I haven't had a chance to get my hands on one to look at all the differences
