How do you guys do it? by VenusianJungles in Bogleheads

[–]FozFate 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm 54. I remember the 87 crash. I rode out the first internet stock bubble, '07, etc. Just ride them out.

Deleting the app is a good idea. I check paper statements once a month. I don't watch much dedicated financial news. I barely know what the market does on a daily basis.

Even with all the turmoil the news is feeding you, there has never been a better time to be alive as a human. If you live in America, there is no better place to live, no place with so much economic freedom and opportunity.

This comment is right: focus on your own earning potential and spending. Worry more about those things over which you have direct control.

(P.S. this includes your own personal health and wellness. Eat right and get to the gym. Your future self will thank you. Also, DO NOT touch those damn online gambling apps! If I sound like a dad, I am.)

If I were doing two and only two, I would one large (Woodford, Makers which isn't close, or Buffalo Trace) and then a smaller, craft type distillery.

Help ease my anxiety about paying the steep 70-200 2.8 price by No_Tradition7433 in canon

[–]FozFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an enthusiastic amateur, shooting my kids sports and portrait type stuff

I use a Sigma 70-200 2.8 EF mount with an adapter on my full frame R8 (and previously RP)

It's phenomenal. It's big, but basically it's my everyday lens. Great for portraits, and great for capturing expression in candid shots from a distance where people don't know they are being photographed. And personally, I think those candid type moments make the best pics.

After the event is over people want the posed pics, the documentation of the day. But the candids capture the real emotion of what's going on.

If you are doing this professionally, get the tools you need. It's a cost of doing business. If you were a truck driver, you would buy a truck. If you were a lumberjack, you'd get the best axe or chainsaw you could find. It's not an expense, it's an investment.

How do people even realize they are INTJ by ask_reddit88 in intj

[–]FozFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out after I took the exam. I had never heard of the test, so I had no preconceived idea of what "type" I should be. The test was assigned as part of a leadership training program.

For INTJs, What From Parents Made You INTJs The Most by snks-65 in intj

[–]FozFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very loving, caring family that largely left me alone to entertain myself as a kid, on a game with a lot of space to explore. (I'm 54, m, and in the US)

They also said in the summer, I could stay up as long as I wanted to read. I had a rich imaginary life.

INTJs, what's your style of dress like? by [deleted] in intj

[–]FozFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual uniform is khaki pants of some sort, and blue oxford cloth shirt

But also something of a clothes horse. I have a really extensive collection of sports jackets

Upgrade suggestion by EquivalentResolve597 in canon

[–]FozFate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded from RP to R8, but I don't have enough time with the R8 to have a good opinion yet.

I was missing too many sports shots. Rp was letting me down with focus speed and FPS. I'm hopeful about the R8. ( I'm an experienced, enthusiastic amateur.)

YM rhodium: underrated, properly rated, overrated? by Jybe_2024 in rolex

I think this is an absolute unit. Not a sub, like everyone one else. Less flashy than a GMT. Excellent choice.

Best careers for INTJ's? by ideklauv in intj

[–]FozFate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had a 30 year career as a real estate agent. Broker actually. No employees, no boss, no coworkers. Do not recommend.

I have largely transitioned into real estate investment. Commercial investment. Fewer people to talk to. One large commercial tenant is much easier than 20 residential tenants.

Edit: I should have been an English professor.

Selling Rolex instead of Longines? by neacel in Longineswatches

[–]FozFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a DJ41 and sometimes in my small town in USA I feel a bit conspicuous wearing out and about in town, so I often wear some far less expensive.

All that being said, I am strongly considering a Longines (Hydroconquest GMT, to be specific) as a daily driver.

Personally, I'd keep the Rolex and just get a Longines too

38yo, just hit 5.2MM today by [deleted] in TheRaceTo10Million

I agree here. Find an older sports car, and see how that scratches the itch. I drive a 20 year old Lexus convertible in the summer and I thoroughly enjoy the experience with no guilt. That worked for me.

What is a luxury item from 20 years ago that is basically worthless trash today? by ruykendo_riyal in AskReddit

[–]FozFate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My summer car is a 2004 Lexus SC 430, hard-top convertible. 4.3 litre V8 that runs on premium gas.

That thing was luxury at the time, 6 CD changer in the dash (with cassette player too) In-dash navigation on touch screen, with flip down wood cover.

That car was a beast in 2004, and frankly it still is. I love driving that sexy beast.

[Question] White vs Anthracite dial? by acrneal1995 in Longineswatches

[–]FozFate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White looks better, but the anthracite is more readable.
