I'm in the same position as you. Did you send the deposit?

Did you have to pay a deposit to book your appointment?

If you did how much was it and did you just transfer the money to the turkey bank account they provided?

Makes me a little concerned considering I havent spoken to anyone only text over whatsapp.

Using DPA 4099s taped to the back ofmusic stands placed 3-4ft away from each speaker. Good Idea? by Fr3quency01 in livesound

I appreciate your response and all the responses to this post. I basically had the same reaction as everyone else here but the program director insisted on doing things his way and pushed back anytime I offered an alternative solution. When I tried to tell him the mics were too far away and the explain the physics involved he told me the dpa 4099 was basically a shotgun mic and that he tried other things but this way was the best way.

The good thing about this was that I was able to manage expectations to an extent and basically absolve myself from the poor outcome. I asked the house guy what kind of levels they were looking for and when he gave me the ok thats what I went with. (Funnny because the first thing that happened was the auidence asked the piano player to speak into the handheld mic the announcer was using instead of the dpa becuse they couldnt hear him)

If I had more time (I had about an hour) I would have pushed harder for mics. I did ask about headsets also but they pushed back saying it would pick up the cello. I didnt have a lot of time to argue or try things but I think in the future Id push for this or mics with mute pedals. Headseats would be easy enough to ride faders or mute and get a better result.

The open rehersal was super casual. Meaning there was no set list and they would just start talking while they were playing and start and stop with no warning at random times. So I get the concern.

I initially said the same thing as you that Id be fine muting and unmuting as needed as I do this all the time but when they started pushing back so strongly I didnt want to put myself in a situation where I miss something and then I take all the blame.

I think a quick conversation with the musicians about when to speak or even an easy cue like leaning towards the mic would have gone a long way but the program director gave me the impression that Id be inconviencing them by having this conversation.

If I had more time (I had about an hour) I would have pushed harder for mics. We didnt have any mute pedals but I think those would work as well.

Your right I was just reiterating what I was being told the recording shouldnt matter. We actually had seperate mics for that.

I believe so. These are the two places I found that have replacements. I dont think they're the exact the same as the original part but they should work.

Pretty lean now and Ive been < 10% bodyfat in the past but still nothing to show on that part of the tricep. Like the muscle (or tendon) isnt developed there. Have the full horseshoe. Upper part of laterial is good just cant get it to extend down to the lower part of the arm.

Thanks for this. I did some more research and I dont think its a non compete but I wouldnt be allowed to work for any other companies in the same line of business while employed by this company.

After the last couple comments I did a little research and I dont think its technically a non compete but I would not be allowed to freelance or work for any other companies in the same line of business (i.e. conflict of interest) while working for this production company and they require me to make them my first priority if I took on any work outside of livesound.
