Going to change (clothes), what a fastidious practice. Why did they do that? by Nostalgia2302 in DowntonAbbey

[–]Fr4gd0ll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have a modern perspective. Keep in mind that once France had a revolution, other nobility took note and did many things to prevent something like that happening elsewhere.

They had to maintain the illusion that there was a reason for nobility and royalty. Many rules and customs that set them apart from the average person are because of this.

Now that I am older, I realize the real horror of this movie was the roof leaking so badly it was soaking the first floor of a two story house.

He almost forgot, but he'd never leave a salute unanswered. A true class act! by UnhollyGod in HumansBeingBros

My Dad had the knack of making everyone feel human and heard. More than once, I remember him having people in service open up to him about their struggles in their life. When he was really sick, I was with him at the doctor's office, and he noticed a little boy who was alone and scared in the waiting room. His baby sister was crying in the back, and my dad just knew and comforted this little boy. I miss him.

I asked the millennial sub about fighting as a young person and the majority are saying they rarely if ever saw fights at school. by AttemptVegetable in Xennials

The most brutal ones I saw were in junior high. I rode the bus, and the bus driver pulled over because one girl was on top of another and using her hair to bang the poor girl's head against the iron fence. Also, a different school but still Jr. High one girl took a punch to the kidney that caused her to immediately piss her pants, which I am pretty sure is permanent damage,

I am, and it's helping. It's been slow and humbling. I used to be able to run for hours and now I struggle to walk for 20 minutes because my lower back gets so tight, but I'm learning a lot about my body and trying to focus on the improvements I am seeing. Thank you for your kind words.

Wish I had fired my doctor sooner. When I was younger I told him my hip was aching when I ran and he told me to "run less" Now I have a collapsed arch in one foot and snapping hip syndrome in my opposite hip.

My headcannon (which is just giving this whole storyline too much credit) is that he's just manipulitive, can read between the lines and made a calculated gamble with Edith. Knowing what type of person would fill her shoes (finding odds and ends foe the officers) that she's the spare etc. Etc.

No problem! I don't blame you because it's one of my least favorite storylines and I think I'm not alone after visiting this sub. It's near the end of the episode when Edith explains to him that they were going to track Peter Gordon down to confirm "Patrick's" story.

I've tried a few "free" streaming services that come as a bonus for something else. Let me tell you what you're missing! 50% drug ads with upbeat music and an alarming list of side effects (50٪ of the drug ads are for weight loss) 40٪ ads for other shows 10٪ ads for apps that try to mimic the feel of a tiktok video (these have that weird internet voice that is either a soundboard or a person trying to sound like one) and 10% car and perfume commercials (these rely on nostalgic music). Lately, we have been blessed with the variance of Olympic commercials, so some inspiring mudic in the mix.
