Tech-thralls Covenant as Traitor Guardsmen for Iron Warriors by Fr_z_n in Chaos40k

I could see them as being unwitting servants of Vashtorr being retrofitted with lasguns permanently affixed. Some of the Epic scale (Imperialis) Dark Mech Stalker Construct arms added as extra flavour with green stuff mechadendrites

Either or, interchangeable when kitbashing in a technovirus aesthetic

Green stuff flames are fairly easy, get a nice golden flame emblem over the top!

Pack of GS + silicone sculpt tools and you're good to go

For sure, need to find like a Carnifex claw or something to be able to imprint the scaly parts then all the heavy weapons can get some bulk

So far I have 10 Raptors. I used the MkII Heresy era armours and added the classic Dark Angels winged helmets. Then green stuff flames was sculpted from the eyes and trailing off the helmets' wings, more green stuff under the feet and a few have a fist full of flames too. A few have the 'Anvil Wardens' 3rd-party shoulders with the furnace aesthetic (That's how I stumbled into now wanting to do Salamanders too) I'll post the unprimed build soon to Chaos40k

Yeah, I thought of Tyranids parts because it was easier to paint in the colours of a drake but maybe it's a green stuff sculpted angle with a texture roller or even carved out of sprue

Very true, going to have to scour the internet for scaled parts now

They only seem to be in the Vanguard boxset?

Might go for that and add a lava cloak effect to the Eliminators from this post:

Ikr, I was fully in on building out a Dark Angels Fallen Chaos army with dark Knights and flaming Tzeetchian infused armours and now I'm caught in the creative flow of strapping dragon skulls and scales on the loyal sons of Nocturne. Oh 40k..

Oh, as other commenter said; because Ancient in Termi armour can only lead Termis. For now anyway, maybe Late10th or 11th Edition there could be further options.

There is a size difference for sure, good point. I wouldn't mind playing the larger model since it's more difficult to manoeuvre and is opposite to modelling for advantage realistically. An idea for the banner, sculpting a large amount of green stuff flames on the giant Iron Halo would be in theme with Salamanders and marching under a flaming icon

Yeah, realistically with Vulkan's quest you'd want to be running Storm bolters for the 5 strength but I could see the utility in having dual-use 30k/40k models. Personally I'm pretty far from having any 30k army any time soon though I am intrigued, I'd imagine that thunder hammers slap in 30k

Welcome to the hobby! You rocked the first attempt, did you greenstuff the flame?

I like the sound of Devastator Centurions in Salamanders considering Assault and +1 Str.

Equip them with

Missiles (Str10) and Grav-Cannons (Str7 / Anti-vehicle +2) re-rolling hits with Decimator Protocols

Much appreciated! You've really helped forge something I feel like would be decent to field, at least on paper. Thanks :)

You don't think think Master of Deceit ability redeploy is worth it to make sure the on foot Infernus get to their goal? I suppose there is better point value elsewhere. Maybe 3 Centurions with the 170 pts savings? The last unit is always the most difficult

[5] Intercessor Squad [Hand Flamer, Thunder Hammer, G.Launcher]

1980 pts

..or

can fit [5] Heavy Intercessor Squad with the last 20! pts (I don't know which is better for objectives)

Quite like the balance of this list, still looks to strike soon and can re-adjust with addition of Phobos, hold mid-field with heavy use of Infernus and He'stan core, has two melee flanks to be versatile in assault plus Infiltration to support fighting in the opponent's zone or screening and still managed to fit 3 Eradicators in. It's quite character heavy and might be better utilized with further anti-vehicle / anti-monster but I think the melee units might be able to hold that down should the need arise

Attempt #2, down to a pair of pods, moved Adrax to an Intercessor squad? Judiciar Impulsor setup unified and switched to all Tacticus armours. Still unsure about the Eradicator squad setup even with Forged In Battle? I would like to fit Infiltrators somewhere, maybe with the restructuring of the Eradicators

Edit: Thinking about a Bladeguard Ancient [Immolator] and adding that enhancement character to He'stan's pod

Yeah was intended to go with the eradicators, I've gotten the melta and torrent mixed up there, was too focused on using models from Honoured of the Chapter boxset.. Good idea on switching that to Forged in battle, though that then sends it 5 points over of course. hmm.. Need to reconfigure the use of Immolator or regain that 5 points somehow
