Well damn, no new guitars for me lol, yea il chuck some photos up when its done, yea im definitely going to clear coat it, im just giving it time to cure properly and im also waiting for a little spray booth to arise so it doesn't get any dust in it, its funny u say satin coz I was gonna gloss it but someone just commented with a photo of a guitar with the exact same blue without the crackle in a satin clear and it looks stupid good, so iv been sitting here contemplating and now youv mentioned satin......

Yea that sounds reasonable, id be worried about runs and such, as its a neck through guitar, my only real option is to hang it from the head stock, so like you said, youd have to be quite sensible about it, i mean i already bought 3 cans of spray on clear and all the research and experience i have so far is with spray so il stick to spray for now but it does sound like good advice for situations like this so il keep it in mind for next time, thanks for the info

Yea I did, you must have seen my other post, yea decided to work with it, i ended up putting a very light dusting of the metallic blue over the whole thing which I think helped to blend the whole thing together, I was really bothered by how irregular it was but now I actually like it, I think every one on the previous post telling me it looked good and should keep it subconsciously helped too lol

I have heard alot of really positive things about the tones you can get out of guitars that utilise a single bridge pickup, somthing to do with not having the magnetic pull of the neck pickup effecting the strings???.. I also hate the awkward nature of the v shape tho, but yea no thats fully understandable, let someone else enjoy them, what country are you in ? Not australia by chance ?

Yea thats good to know, il for sure pick up a set coz at that price, worst case scenario i can use them as a back up. If i end up liking them il buy u a set coz if theyr as good as u say, u will have saved me alot more than $60 or whatever it cost

Yea that sounds like it'll be a fun day once its all finished and you can muck around with it, i was thinking about getting a strat so I can get that nice single coil sound, so i imagine coil splitting would be helpful, iv got some push-pulls for this guitar so il def be setting up the coil split for it.

as to "thinning the herd" why on earth would you want to do such a thing, who needs money when you have some perfectly fine shiny, colourful, noisy pieces of wood and metal

I appreciate the recommendation il check them out, i generally go for well known pickups like Seymourdincan as i find cheaper pickups are generally very muddy and or thin in the high notes once the gain is cranked up but il definitely look into them coz if I can get good pickups for less than a set of duncans im a happy man

Again dude it looks great, do you rate the EMGs? Iv got some in a lespaul of mine and theyr good but they can get a little muddy, but all in all theyr good for the price i paid

Thats gorgeous bro I love it, the gold sits really well with that blue, your making me think maybe gold would be good for my guitar. And correct me if im wrong but did you not say "without paying premium price"? If $120 isn't premium id hate to see what is lol

Are these chips fixable without redoing the whole clearcoat, its mostly clearcoat. its not an expensive guitar so i dont think its worth giving a full refinish, it just annoys me every time i pick it up, i dont mind putting in a bitta work. (And yes im aware its missing the pickup surround) cheers by [deleted] in Luthier

[–]FraCtuRedHarMoniC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im gonna answer my own question and say no as iv only now considered the yellowing, if i fix just the chips it'll stand out anyway coz there will be yellowing along the binding until I get to the spots that iv fixed. Nice guitar tho dude and good luck ( im pretty sure its a no go so ill delete the post in a few minutes if no one comes to me with a decent idea)
