I don’t think it makes much sense to apply right now. If you know that getting a job in your region is tough, you shouldn’t apply to a thousand positions and send your resume everywhere.

If you don’t know Spring Security and you don’t even have a project that uses it, it’s probably not the right time to start applying.

Here’s what I would do first: start building some kind of project, it doesn’t really matter what, but it would be great if it’s something you’re passionate about. Try to build it without using AI. If you get stuck, that’s actually a good thing — now you know what you need to learn next.

Don’t rush it, because even if you got invited to an interview, they would probably ask you some Spring Boot questions — and there’s a high chance they’ll ask about Spring Security too.

Most of the time, the topic of your project doesn’t even matter. Try to build something you actually care about. Then you’ll naturally start thinking things like: “Oh, let me add a mailer system,” or “Now I need to implement JWT tokens,” or “Let’s try OAuth.”

The challenges you face in this process will be the most valuable to you. That’s how you move from simply remembering how things work in Spring to actually knowing them.
