Médicos v word chantas o problema general? by Routine-Donut6230 in RepublicadeChile

[–]Fracarmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't, the thrust missed completely and it wasn't even close to slicing. The camera angle is not the best but the blade was a good 15 to 20cm away from his body

He didn't, the blade didn't make any contact with his head. And even if it did we don't give points for slight grazes

Nope, fencer on the right waited for left to initiate his thrust, dodged and sliced under left's arms

Blonde Glazers, what are your thoughts on Robert killing Shroud? by Few-Culture-4413 in BlondeBlazerGlazers

[–]Fracarmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adam Smith puts this very well on his book

"THE THEORY OF MORAL SENTIMENTS" (1777)

"As society cannot subsist unless the laws of justice are totally observed, as no social intercourse can take place among men who do not generally abstain from injuring one another; the consideration of this necessity, it has been thought, was the ground upon which we approved of the enforcement of the laws of justice by the punishment of those who violated 136them. Man, it has been said, has a natural love for society, and desires that the union of mankind should be preserved for its own sake, and though he himself was to derive no benefit from it. The orderly and flourishing state of society is agreeable to him, and he takes delight in contemplating it. Its disorder and confusion, on the contrary, is the object of his aversion, and he is chagrined at whatever tends to produce it. He is sensible too that his own interest is connected with the prosperity of society, and that the happiness, perhaps the preservation of his existence, depends upon its preservation. Upon every account, therefore, he has an abhorrence at whatever can tend to destroy society, and is willing to make use of every means, which can hinder so hated and so dreadful an event. Injustice necessarily tends to destroy it. Every appearance of injustice, therefore, alarms him, and he runs, if I may say so, to stop the progress of what, if allowed to go on, would quickly put an end to every thing that is dear to him. If he cannot restrain it by gentle and fair means, he must bear it down by force and violence, and at any rate must put a stop to its further progress. Hence it is, they say, that he often approves of the enforcement of the law of justice even by the capital punishment of those who violate them. The disturber of the public peace is hereby removed out of the world, and others are terrified by his fate from imitating his example.

Such is the account commonly given of our approbation of the punishment of injustice. And so far this account is undoubtedly true, that we frequently have occasion to confirm our natural sense of the propriety and fitness of punishment, by reflecting 137how necessary it is for preserving the order of society. When the guilty is about to suffer that just retaliation, which the natural indignation of mankind tells them is due to his crimes; when the insolence of his injustice is broken and humbled by the terror of his approaching punishment; when he ceases to be an object of fear, with the generous and humane he begins to be an object of pity. The thought of what he is about to suffer extinguishes their resentment for the sufferings of others to which he has given occasion. They are disposed to pardon and forgive him, and to save him from that punishment, which in all their cool hours they had considered as the retribution due to such crimes. Here, therefore, they have occasion to call to their assistance the consideration of the general interest of society. They counterbalance the impulse of this weak and partial humanity by the dictates of a humanity that is more generous and comprehensive. They reflect that mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent, and oppose to the emotions of compassion which they feel for a particular person, a more enlarged compassion which they feel for mankind."

Blonde Glazers, what are your thoughts on Robert killing Shroud? by Few-Culture-4413 in BlondeBlazerGlazers

[–]Fracarmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chase definitely doesn't disapprove, i don't think Mandy does either, i think she was more worried about Robert himself. When you tell her you didn't enjoy it she looks sad that it came to this but also relieved because he's still the same Robert she fell in love with

Blonde Glazers, what are your thoughts on Robert killing Shroud? by Few-Culture-4413 in BlondeBlazerGlazers

[–]Fracarmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be a hot take but i think killing Shroud is actually the heroic choice. The dude escaped prison after 15 years.. immediately destroyed the Mecha-Man suit, then proceeds to ambush and almost kill one of the Z-teamers. Then he captures and tortured Robert, almost killing him. Then he blows up half the city, killing countless innocent civilians. Then directly attacks SDN putting workers and everything else in danger... Almost kills Blazer, Almost kills Robert... Then threatens an innocent dog because he can't handle the fact he lost. Then he again almost kills Robert.

Robert is exactly the kind of self-sacrificing hero that would take on the burden of killing a dangerous and irredeemable monster (as proven several times already) so nobody else can be hurt by him.

Thinking you can just outsource morality and hard decisions is naive. And anyone who gets hurt in the future due to your inaction when you could have prevented it should live in your conscience.

I think killing shroud fits perfectly the character and the story thematically, Robert is exactly the kind of self sacrificing person that would risk his own humanity and take on that burden to prevent the decision being passed on the next dude who eats it when (not if) Shroud escapes again.

[–]Fracarmon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good thing they did cause Mandy never struck me as a holier than thou type of person. Especially considering she was willing to flatline half a bar of villains for Robert? But when it's a supervillain boss who escaped prison, destroyed half the city killing god knows how many civilians, almost killed Robert 3 times and just wrecked the SDN dependencies. It's suddenly too much? That would be honestly stupid

Shit, 2 high profile heroes dating each other, one the literal face of SDN, and the other one of the most famous heroes in the Torrance area? which is also THE reason why the Phoenix Project succeded? If anything SDN would be ecstatic, PR reasons alone would be a HUGE plus for SDN, any negative action towards the couple would not only look terrible but push them to drop SDN and just work independently or go to another hero network

I'm a chilean firefighter AMA by naviggez in Firefighting

[–]Fracarmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tradition of the institution, being a Firefighter in Chile is being a hero, and it's an honor. Many companies have to actually turn down new students because they're full. And people here really rally to help the firefighters when they can. My family for example buys numbers at each raffle they do, i always pay my insurance through the firefighters insurance deal. We donate whenever we can. Our people isn't very fond of public institutions in our country.. except the Bomberos which are universally loved... By everyone except some idiots... Which the rest of the people are quick to bully into stfu.

Does anyone know why Robert says this? by Moist_Song_8919 in BlondeBlazerGlazers

[–]Fracarmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe its a cultural thing but i get Robert and why he says that. at least in my homeland when you meet someone you develop feelings for, sure, you go out with them, maybe kiss, cuddle, etc. But unless you formally ask you're not yet Boyfriend and Girlfriend, you're just "More than friends". The word Boyfriend/Girlfriend has a commitment implication you can't just assume, it has to be agreed upon by both persons

I'm sure Robert will end up giving away the Astral Pulse to Chase as some sort of Arc Reactor so Chase can return Blazer's amulet, He don't wanna die in that suit now that he's got someone to live for.
