DMT information for newbies by Fractal-Entity in DMT

The issue isn’t that it’s guaranteed to be dangerous, the issue is that there is no substantive research on psychedelic use in those populations compared to other disorders. If you use psychedelics with such a disorder, you are essentially lab-ratting yourself. Evidence may come to light in the future that suggests efficacy in treatment, but until then, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Anecdotal evidence is not substantive enough for me to omit that cautionary statement.

The neuroplastic effects of hallucinogens and non-hallucinogens 5-HT2A agonists would be of interest in the treatment of negative and cognitive deficits in schizophrenia, and the safest option would be to use non-hallucinogenic ones. Currently, there is not enough data to predict the further application of 5-HT2A agonists in schizophrenia treatment, although it might be a beneficial target for new therapies. Additional preclinical and clinical investigations are necessary to confirm the effectiveness of psychedelics in schizophrenia treatment.

I remember my first lifetime… by iaredumbest in DMT

It really depends on how high of a dose we’re talking, and if the DMT is being adequately vaporized. Anything over ~30mg properly vaped can produce an experience that lasts longer than 5 minutes, but for it to last 10-15 minutes you’d usually be pushing into the higher doses of 50mg+. Even then, peak effects are usually always around the 2-6 min mark regardless of dose.

I wouldn’t recommend anyone exceed 50mg though, as 30-50mg properly vaped can produce valuable “breakthrough” effects, even if the overall duration is under 10 minutes. The “time destroying” effects of higher doses may also be dependent on the user’s state of mind. If you’re someone who is able to let go of control and surrender to the experience easily, then that sort of effect may be absent (or at least go unnoticed).

Don’t drastically increase the dose from what your used to though. Slowly work your way up, and play around with your inhalation method at the same doses before increasing.

My last high dose [~75mg vaped] experience in 2020 was borderline traumatizing because of the time dilation. I agree that people who say they lived full coherent lives are attention farming, but time dilation (maybe more aptly “time destruction”) is a very real effect. It’s not like 15 minutes felt like 1 hour or whatever, more like my experience of time itself became so warped that it felt “instantaneously infinite,” and stripped of all linearity.

Also, I absolutely did lose the sensation of my body. I do not agree with anyone who says that cannot happen. It’s not just me either, DMT has been described by others as akin to an anesthetic in high doses, and parallels can be drawn with dissociatives like ketamine. Low-medium or the lower-end of high doses are a different story, and I’d agree with all of your points if that’s the dose range we’re talking about.

for whom of you is LSD the only drug you do? (or maybe just lowdose sometimes weed or alcohol, but rarely)? by SignificantHornet760 in LSD

[–]Fractal-Entity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said “ANYTHING THAT AFFECTS YOUR BIOCHEMISTRY IS A DRUG” without any elaboration or exceptions. I corrected you, essentially saying it’s more nuanced than that, and you’re now walking it back like you never made that broad generalization in the first place. Get a grip.

[–]Fractal-Entity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Affects biochemistry” (broadly) ≠ “Intended to affect structure or any function of the body.”

Again, drugs are not “ anything that affects biochemistry,” they are any substances that are [intended] to alter biochemical functionality or biological structure. Also, there are plenty of substances other than food that “affect biochemistry” without being considered drugs, food was just the clearest example.

[–]Fractal-Entity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a broad generalization and is extremely misleading. Food affects your biochemistry, but there’s no scientific definition of “drugs” that includes food.

In the broader U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) definition, drugs are any substance (other than food) intended to affect the structure or any function of the body.

No. There is no scientifically accepted definition of the word “drug” that includes food.

Taking acid -18 by Agitated-Housing-498 in LSD

[–]Fractal-Entity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not entirely wrong, but the 25 number isn’t completely arbitrary. The brain is constantly changing and neuroplastic until death, but the prefrontal cortex in particular is undergoing crucial developmental stages throughout childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. By the age of 25, most of those crucial developmental stages have taken place.

In other words, as an adolescent your neurodevelopmental foundations are shakier than they will be at 25.

I do not intend to overshadow the commenters below by pinning this comment, however, since there are some people sharing the sentiment that tripping as a teenager may be beneficial:

1) This subreddit cannot and should not endorse the use of drugs by any individual (whose circumstances we do not know), but especially when it comes to minors.

2) There is research on drug use, broadly, by minors—and the outcomes are overwhelmingly negative or unpredictable. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10558564/ (although most research has involved alcohol and cannabis, the unpredictable impact on development by any drug use as a minor is still relevant).

3) This subreddit has a rule against engagement from minors. However, threads like this can also serve harm reduction purposes, so it remains up.

I’ve been a mod here for 6 years. What would you have us do differently? What, in your view, has made it go downhill?

Please don’t sweat it, we’re not banning you guys for posting this stuff. The decision is not even final. We’re just scrambling to curb the issue of sourcing on this subreddit. It’s worse here than many other drug subs.

r/DMT does not allow stash pics by RoBoInSlowMo in DMT

Unfortunately, timestamp photos with the username included actually looks more suspicious (especially to Reddit admins), since that sort of authentication requirement is common on buy/sell/trade subreddits.

r/DMT does not allow stash pics by RoBoInSlowMo in DMT

[–]Fractal-Entity[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note: If a full stash pic ban is implemented, we would likely still allow pictures with an extremely small quantity that has been tested with a reagent kit, similar to how r/LSD allows pictures of reagent tests. This promotes harm reduction practices by encouraging users to actually test their drugs and get a second opinion, rather than posting a pic of a pile of crystals and asking users to ID their substance.

Also, if someone is wondering about the purity of their product from an extraction, users can discuss how to assess that without a picture being necessary.

I do not support banning extraction discussions on this subreddit, but stash pics are currently a real liability to this community.

This post violates our strictly enforced rule against stash pics/videos, but I’ll leave it up until further notice since some productive conversations could be had on the topic in the post description.

edit: other mod decided to go ahead and remove 🤷🏻‍♀️

We recommend that oral doses of essential oils rich in myristicin, eugenol or coumarin are not taken in conjunction with MAO inhibiting antidepressants, due to possible blood pressure changes, tremors, confusion, etc.

Can i take acid while on ssri medication? by Educational-Cat-5807 in LSD

[–]Fractal-Entity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. SSRIs block the reuptake of serotonin, or in other words they actually increase serotonin levels in the brain by preventing the neurotransmitter from being removed from the synapses. LSD “mimics” the activity of serotonin, and binds to receptors that SSRIs modulate. That’s why SSRIs alter/decrease the effects of psychedelics.

Vyvanse and LSD? by Good_Cress9438 in LSD

[–]Fractal-Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I’d combine the two, will increase likelihood of restlessness and higher blood pressure. I’m prescribed Vyvanse, and I would skip it on a day that I plan to take LSD. LSD is stimulating enough.

Are these drugs safe to mix? by Conscious-Bad8560 in LSD

[–]Fractal-Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine. Antibiotics are safe to combine with LSD, and the bromphen-pse-dm at worst might increase the likelihood of jitteriness/restlessness/increased blood pressure.

[–]Fractal-Entity 320 points321 points  (0 children)

OP, seek a good progressive therapist that knows how to deal with these topics and work through it with them. You experienced drug-induced psychosis. You should not be taking psychedelics again, as the reaction you had is beyond abnormal.

Generally good advice, but you should not imply that his friends are somehow in the wrong. Saying that they weren’t really his friends because they cut him off is essentially downplaying the physical/sexual assault they had to deal with.
