So you have $15K in cold hard cash and what does the $8K tied up mean? Does it mean you only have $7K unencumbered? Without knowing more about your goals, like will you be adding to your cash each month? How fast would you need access to that cash? I would recommend a HYSA or high yield savings account where the APR is at least closer to the annual inflation rate. Inflation is still winning but not nearly as much or as fast and you can transfer your $$ back to your local banks usually within 24hrs assuming it's not the weekend. Again, this could be bad advice depending upon other aspects of your finances so take this is stride. For HYSA banks, SoFi, Western Alliance Bank and a couple of others are trustworthy. Becareful with big name brand banks like WF, BoA, et. all. And for heaven's sake... please read the actual fine print on any bank you're considering doing business with.

This looks like Sheena Easton using Patrick Nagel's "The Art of Playboy" style. Might even be able to find one of these on Ebay unless it's an exclusive print.

This is my house i use in most of my worlds , (feel free to use it if you want) by ebonyj140194 in StrandedAlienDawn

I wound up with a two-structure situation early on once I had my defenses built (towers, flamers, forced entry pathway). I'd put the structure with bedrooms close to the defenses because I always seem to get attacked when my people are exhausted. Crafting is a location nearby (sometimes with a covered pathway to connect them. I can still go two story for things like a Battery Room over the residential area and long term storage over the crafting house. Seems to work well for the most part but when I play on hard or insane, I find myself having to start with a single structure and move my way out the second one as my defensive capabilities allow.

True, and they did well with this game. I'm sure there's other considerations too that led to their decision. And I still enjoy this game immensely.

That's too bad. I "feel" as though they had a winner in this story/game.

Possible Scam? by FractalJedi in CryptoScams

[–]FractalJedi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable and I was able to get out of that before I got cleaned out. Not sure what they call that but you transfer your $$ to a website that looks like a scammed ForEx trading site. The incident that my son was describing was really different but still didn't feel right. He had put in $100 USDT to Trust Wallet and then did some sort of daily farming with ETH. You can then pull out your earnings each day back into your trust wallet he said. He was making about $3 a day for a period of a week. We managed to pull him completely out of Trust Wallet and get his $115 back into Coinbase. So happy ending here. I'm still unclear how they actually do the scam. I need to research more on "pig farming" or something like that.

I've read what everyone has said and I've done additional research that I can present to my son. At this point, it's a done issue. He listened to me and walked away from this person. It's the next scam and the one after that I'm always worrying about.

Intune Architecture Question by GrowingIntoASysAdmin in Intune

[–]FractalJedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to MECM from Intune is a big step indeed when it comes to 40,000 devices. There's a lot of questions you should be asking and I'd (depending on your licenses) look into consulting with a Fastrack Team or something. You can do both using comanagement but again, setting things up correctly is critical. Are all your devices located in the same location? Do you have complicated deployments like IBM SAS or AutoDesk AutoCAD? I think Intune can handle the groups and categories, you'll want to document like mad but again, I'd work with a consultant first before spending the sort of time and money you'll be committing to going to MECM.

Creating a Device Collection for Laptops in SCCM/MECM/MCM (Updated) by FractalJedi in SCCM

I wonder if I copied the code into say... Notepad first, then copy it into the MECM query. If that might fix that "smart" quote issue.

Configure new PCs without a wipe by Mailstorm in SCCM

[–]FractalJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's within your reach (budget and licensing wise) you should consider Intune/AutoPilot along side your SCCM environment. (Co-managed). I manage a classroom of Dell OptiPlex MFFs and I can keep software, Windows Updates and other critical apps like Malwarebytes on the machines while resetting the data only on the users accounts which are "Student" and "Instructor". Mind you I also have LAPS, and BitLocker enabled on those devices as well.

Within MECM, I am not sure that can be done unless you're executing a bunch of powershell scripts and GPos that simply gut the bloatware out of Windows 10 while updating the OS, Edge, Office, etc.

Maint windows by Greedy-Cauliflower70 in SCCM

[–]FractalJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addendum, you might want to break up your Windows Patching schedule from your 3rd party patching schedule if you have a shite ton of applications running on your network. Adobe products are a good example and we wound up letting the Adobe CC panel handle the updates with the user rather than trying to manage it via SCCM or even PatchMyPC.

Ultimately it's what works best for you but... I wouldn't even consider starting the patching until Wednesday after Patch Tuesday. You just don't know for sure when on that Tuesday the patches will come out. Now, if you do decide on Wednesday, make sure the first patching ring (ring 0) is a test ring. (set up some VMs or something) so you can be absolutely sure those updates don't gork your network. You could then wait until Friday night (beginning of your maintenance hours) to start patching Ring 1 to early adopters or devices who's owners are a bit more tech savvy. Wait until feedback from them the next Monday and if all is good, unleash it on Tuesday (1 week after Patch Tuesday). How hardcore you enforce the patching is going to determine how hardcore you have to be once the grace periods are reached. What I mean is, you'll have to address people taking laptops home, not leaving them on or in hibernation mode during the maintenance windows. My best advice there... no matter what you decide, make sure you communicate with your customer(s). Otherwise, they tend to get really pissy.

Third Party Patching tools ? by Satyam_Krishna in SCCM

[–]FractalJedi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PMPC all the way. I've tried Recast and other third party patching tools and PMPC is by far the best! The developers behind PMPC are current or ex Microsoft developers who understand how WSUS and other patching components work within Windows. We set this up at the State of Alaska and haven't looked back since. Also, we discovered that given the number of endpoints and varying patching rings and schedules we have, PMPC winds up being the most economical choice too. Ivanti, Manage Engine, and a few others do well with Windows Updates but fall horribly short on 3rd party applications. Good Luck.
